Team Skating is really good tomorrow though! It’s the men’s short, and Ilia Malinin of the USA is as unique a talent as Simone Biles or Serena Williams. That and the free dance will be key for determining if USA takes gold or falls behind Japan.

Personally, my money is on the women’s figure skating team to be doing the intimidating. They are openly queer, children of immigrants, outspoken liberals, and bankrupt of fucks.
Obviously these people have never run concessions for any form of high school athletic competition or theatre performance or neighborhood swim meet. A whole lot of moms know exactly how to do this kind of logistics.
This requires a bit less organization than running the snack table for my kid’s high school swim meets. It’s stocked similarly, but you also have to place and pick up the Jimmy John’s order.
Fencing competition concessions are much more complex because you have to run the Square and do Venmo.

The delightful thing about this is that at least 2/3 of the current US women’s figure skating Olympians would likely be keen to do the on-ice work for this. Amber Glenn is openly queer, and Alysa Liu (she/they) has never had even a single solitary fuck to give and would do it purely for the vibes.

And also to non-Jews! Beth Israel Preschool served the community for many years. I went to preschool there myself, and would have sent my children if they’d had openings. My kids went to Trinity at CUMC right next door, and Beth Israel was always welcoming for assemblies and activities.

GPUs don’t simply plug themselves directly into wall sockets. They need racks, chassis, cooling systems, network cards, power supplies, etc.

I have poodles, and what never ceases to surprise me is the resilience of their vocal cords. If I screamed as loudly and as often as they do, I would wear my larynx completely out.
Small kids are actually a lot easier in some ways, bc they don’t take up as much room and have as many logistics. But by the time they’re 12, you’re essentially talking about food and housing for 4-5 adults. If you wouldn’t like having that many roommates, you’re not gonna like kids either.
I’m coming out of the other side of having 3 kids, with 19yos now in college just a 17yo at home. It’s been kind of jarring to realize what the absence of the lifestyle load looks like. The enormous grocery runs to feed 3 teens! The space required to house them and all their sports gear!
