My new novel set in Dieppe can now be bought in Dieppe! The excellent La Grande Ourse bookshop has a small but (ahem) select English section.
The bees absolutely loving my horse chestnut. I don't think it's too shabby either
Peak wisteria
Yes it's green. Apparently brewed that way
After the hyacinths (possible title for a short story?), it's tulip time!
Hyacinths smell like nothing else #gardening
The daffs have replaced the dwarf irises and the hyacinths are out. I do love a bulb lasagne, especially when I've forgotten what bulbs I planted
None of the obituaries I've seen to Gene Hackman mention what I believe to be one of his best performances - as the private eye in Arthur Penn's 1975 neo-noir movie Night Moves. But then it's an overlooked film anyway, also featuring Melanie Griffith's first credited screen role
Such a relief not to have that billionaire would-be Martian on my timeline every morning
Thank you. I planted a load of bulbs in a pot and quite forgot what, so this a lovely surprise. I actually did a garden design course but realised I only wanted to do it for fun and not as a secondary career - too old not fit or ambitious enough. Glad to see you're still keeping busy
My first ever post on here so had better make it a positive one. A picture of my first bloom of 2025 - a very beautiful winter iris
