As I had no poppyseeds mine was just apple & honey! I've never made a cake with honey instead of sugar so was a bit nervous. No need as it turned out perfectly. I'll be making this again.

Still nearly an hour until lunch, so torturing myself reading recipes online. Definitely going to give this one from @rachelaliceroddy.bsky.social a go, maybe in half term when I've more time. Pork a bit more affordable than most meat, and plenty of Bay, sage and rosemary in the garden.

Delicious! Easy to make as it just bubbled away for a couple of hours with the occasional check & stir. Had ours with gnocchi.

I have a proof of Anita "Spring" Council's cookbook, Southern Roots: Recipes and Stories from Mama Dip's Daughter, and it's absolutely wonderful. Visiting her mother's restaurant was one of the best experiences I've ever had; her daughter has done her proud.
