You inspired me. Not to drive to Duncan, sadly 35 minutes away but to whip up a DIY version.

Movie poster: Tombs of the Blind Dead
Pictured: a line of skeletal zombie type dude with black holes for eyes and wearing hoods - in upper right corner is a very startled looking young blonde woman. Movie title in red.

Black and white movie still - actress Aline MacMahon in overalls and bandanna is talking with and man - 30s gangster type - in the background is the desert and Joshua trees

Heat Lightning is delightful!
It’s beautiful to look at and the unconventional pre-code plot is so refreshing. (Girl power) It’s only 61 minutes!
If you have Criterion check it out asap.

We used to have one and our cats were definitely β€œinterested” in it. Eventually, we shortened it so cats could walk under it and then they forgot about it. But I know some cats never forget.

It’s not for everyone. But most of the criticisms I have read seem unjustified. β€œIt’s chaotic β€œ - no more than your average superhero movie. β€œIt’s dense with too many subplots” no more so than all the best loved literature.

I have loved Bale since β€œRescue Dawn”.

I think Jesse Buckley is to Maggie Gyllenhaal what Kyle Maclachlan is to David Lynch

If people can’t stop eating chicken nuggets long enough to try escargot then they can fuck off.

I’ve thought about this post of yours a lot since I read it. I relate. I usually think in terms of β€œlike-able” though. I’ve never felt like-able, even as a kid. There are people who like me but I am an acquired taste. I would venture to guess you are as well.
