Assemblymember Berman Introduces Legislation to Electrify California Homes The Home Energy Choice Act gives Californians the option to electrify their homes with money that would otherwise be spent on old gas service lines

Thank you @asmmarcberman.bsky.social for introducing #AB2313, which will give Californians the option to electrify their homes with money that would otherwise be spent replacing old gas service lines!

Some of the things PG&E customers won't have to pay for anymore now that California passed AB 1167 by @asmmarcberman.bsky.social prohibiting utilities from passing lobbying, promotional advertising, trade association dues and other costs into energy bills.

AI creating fake opposition to SoCal air quality rule. "When staffers at the air district reached out to a small sample of people to verify their comments, at least three said they had not written to the agency and were not aware of any such messages, records show."

Contributor: Blending hydrogen into gas pipelines would enrich utilities and harm Californians Experiments with natural gas pipelines are only a stalling tactic and profit grab that will prolong pollution. The real solution is to go electric.

@californiapuc.bsky.social should never have let gas utilities propose pumping hydrogen into gas pipelines in the first place. Its a costly ineffectual boondoggle that distracts focus from helping communities realize the health and safety benefits of electrification.

Watching what is happening right now in MN (and elsewhere in USA) is frustrating, depressing, enraging, all of it. Especially as an American citizen living outside the country.

What I do have though (thankfully) is financial resources. So if you are in same boat, join me in donating? Links πŸ‘‡

The Trump administration has sued two small CA cities over their local ordinances prohibiting gas in new construction. But with the state's new building code, it might not matter.

@californiapuc.bsky.social repeatedly makes last minute changes to proposed decisions in utilities' favor. They did it again today, scaling back modest cuts to utility profit margins without considering customer impact. In her dissent,
@houckcpuc.bsky.social showed (again) she gets it and cares.

Power Brokers, by Nick Bowlin What’s really behind your soaring utility bills

This story from @nickbowlin.bsky.social does as good a job as any journalism I've read of explaining how utilities have largely captured their regulators, and why that dynamic is driving skyrocketing utility bills. harpers.org/archive/2026...

California’s plan to boost plug-in heat pumps and induction stoves Regulators greenlit a $115 million, first-of-its-kind effort to drive demand for tech that can make home electrification easier and cheaper.

Smart investments from @californiapuc.bsky.social to make affordable plug-in window heat pumps and induction stoves widely available. Thanks to @ceja.org for elevating equity benefits and excellent lawyering from @rbarker.bsky.social for helping make it it happen.

Why are famous chefs fighting PFAS bans? The answer, in retrospect, is obviousβ€”and it’s part of a larger campaign to stop bans on Teflon cookware nationwide.

Celebrity chefs told Californians that PFAS-coated pans were β€œsafe,” and successfully lobbied Gavin Newsom to veto a bill phasing them out

They didn’t mention they all sell PFAS-coated pans.

New joint investigation with @mirandagreen.bsky.social and @atmosmag.bsky.social is out:

Over a dozen cities in CA have passed building codes to help ensure central ACs get replaced with heat pumps. This is one of the simplest ways to replace gas heating in homes. The heat pump uses wiring and capacity from old AC to now provide both heating and cooling. More of this in 2026!

And @californiapuc.bsky.social just issued a proposed "phase-out" of gas incentives that keeps the wildfire rebuild loophole as well as many other gas rebates. Now is the time for the PUC to change course. Help make that happen by following directions in Hilary's story to comment in docket!

LA Wildfire Survivors Want to Rebuild All-Electric, but a Utility Is Using Customer Funds to Incentivize Gas Appliances - Inside Climate News California’s utility regulator said it would eliminate ratepayer-funded incentives for gas appliances in new construction, but created an exception that allows rebates for them in wildfire rebuilds.

This is an excellent thread that largely tracks my own experience from my time at the Club (granted, I left right before Jealous started). There is just no scenario where attempting to reckon with the organization's history and build a more inclusive vision of environmentalism was the problem.

This piece of legislation would have made it more difficult to shape clean air policies in Southern California, the nation's smog capital.
