Illustration of John Cooper. He and his sister never married, and lived with their mother in nearby Redford Township before her death.
John Cooper's obituary
John Cooper lived at the northwest corner of 9 Mile and Lahser. He owned the property surrounding the Presbyterian Church and Cemetery that he and his family are buried at.
His property today. The old Presbyterian Church isn't there anymore. The "Pioneer Cemetery" is now surrounded by medical care offices and subdivisions.

Thank you, building sensei ๐โโ๏ธ
The first map is 1859 and it appears to be there as well. The second one is from 1875
The public data said 1900. I should check to see if it's listed in the 1875 atlas when I get the chance

I think the pile of woods that I zoom in on around 10 seconds through might be the native burial mound at Bordman and Kidder!
I think these are when he came back to Detroit, Michigan after the war? I was born in New Jersey and I know he's from Detroit and I don't recognize the last picture of my childhood home in Keansburg. Either way, it's nice to see him smile again.
Man...My dad was so fuckin' cool. And he looked happy.
These pictures are so fucking cool! I really wish I got to meet your dad ๐
Was going through my drive and found some photos of my dad when he was in Vietnam. So cool that I have this picture somewhere. Can't believe this guy was my dad and that he had an entire life before I came along in 1995. Miss you everyday. <3
