I wove through my little 2.5 yard warp 🎉 I have plenty to improve on, but I got to try out several ideas and had a good time.
Yes! Can't wait to see how different weft yarns behave with the setup. I decided not to do a plain weave, so it could get pretty interesting.
Thank you!
I'm sure I will. I tend to enjoy this kind of thing, but it's so hard going though a complex process the first time.
I honestly can't wait to try it again and be less nervous.
Oh my. I really love that perspective! I am going to start saying that to anyone who will listen 😄
Thanks! I think I am on the verge of enjoying the process instead of just being anxious about doing something majorly wrong
Small 2 shaft table loom with the warp tied neatly onto the apron rod.
MY TABLE LOOM IS WARPED.
I had a little help from friends to dress it, but I GET IT NOW!
Wow that was a lot and it's only 2shaft 66 ends. Setup for these things is so much work that I feel like I have completed a whole project, even though I literally just started.

I went through my box of UFO's and bound up some samples that I've kept for reference.

This is the piece that has driven me down a years long weaving wormhole. It was incredibly hard figuring out how to warp the loom at all and using delicate strips of plastic was doing it the hard way.

Plastic rug hooking and embroidery on monks cloth
My favorite part of this one is how blended the yellow and green at the top of the hill look because I clipped the loops.

A small hand hooked rug illustrating water flowing between rocks made of recycled plastic is propped up against a blue wooden figure drawing manikin.
If you have been considering using experimental textures or pushing your rug projects to include more salvaged and repurposed materials. I'm offering two workshops this year during rug hooking week that will spark your creativity.

If I was visiting London, Ontario as a rug hooker and fiber artist this August, where would you recommend I go?
My trip to Rug Hooking Week this summer puts me a hop skip and jump from Ontario and I've never been.

I just love all of the available symbolism of bees, don't you? And there are so many kinds beyond our familiar honey bee friends.

What would you make with this icee colored plastic yarn?
I have been spinning a lot lately and am making nice, stable 2-ply yarns on drop spindle and a Clemes & Clemes tower wheel. Now the question is what to make...

This is a really small rigid heddle setup I was using to learn. Basically you use your body and a post or clamp to tension the warp. You end up working as part of the loom.
I am very much a beginner too. Lots of enthusiasm and the minimum amount of knowledge to keep at it
I think it was just a band loom with a narrow warp on it. Inkle looms are lovely though. I have been doing my latest card weaving project back strap style because it's so portable.

Pink, light green and dark green warp threads stretched onto a frame and threaded through holes at the 4 corners of a series of cards. Part of the warp threads have been woven into a narrow decorative band with a repeating pattern of dark green, light green and pink. A hand is twisting the cards partially towards the camera to show the shed in the warp and the threading of cards
Thinking about technology.
This is a photo from a tablet weaving workshop this past summer. Warps and cards were set up for us by Enrica McMillan at the Augusta Heritage Festival and she showed us the basics. Happy to say I know how to warp my own cards now. You get 4 lines of code then remix.
