The parents who get nuts about their kid’s performance are plentiful in rec league, and many travel coaches are more apt to cut an annoying parent than a struggling kid
Paid travel sports is a source of healthiest relationships in my younger kids life, and even though a lot coaches make choices to prioritize winning over development, many do the opposite.
I guess I have a hot take that youth sports culture is far less toxic now in a mostly paid environment than it was 35 years ago in mostly free one - though I’ll admit paid or free may be irrelevant to the changes
