Finished the 1st book of the year on x-mas holiday, and what a read!! Recommend Alexei Navalnys posthumous biography «Patriot» to absolutely everyone. Such a page turner! A true crime (written by the victim himself) and deep insight into Russia, propaganda, Putin, dictatorships and true bravery 💙📚

Arkansas Law Criminalizing Librarians Ruled Unconstitutional
A federal judge has struck down key parts of an Arkansas law that would have allowed criminal charges against librarians and booksellers for providing so-called “harmful” materials to minors.
A blow to book banners! A federal judge has struck down key parts of an Arkansas law that would have allowed criminal charges against librarians and booksellers for providing so-called “harmful” materials to minors. The law would have deputized librarians and booksellers as agents of censorship.

Yes!! «If you don’t like a book don’t read it». Simple as that! 💪🏼 Ironic that it is those who traditionally are most afraid of governement control over the individual who now want control over .. what individuals can read.

Skeiv bok ble bedt fjernet fra skole: – Fikk kaffen i halsen
Arendal-rektor ba om fjerning av «Gender Queer» fra skolebiblioteket, etter kommunens anbefaling. Nå snur rektoren og bekager.
In Arendal, Norway, reactions from 1 parent made the principal tell the librarian to remove Maia Kobabes «GenderQueer» from the shelves.
It should be obvious but information is not harmful. No one is forced to read a book!
The librarian resisted and the book is now back on the shelves, for now.

N.J. just struck a blow against banning books
It's called the "Freedom to Read Act."
New Jersey is fighting back against book bans and just passed the «Freedom to Read Act”!
Most books in the risk of being banned deal with LGBTQ issues or race. “Students feel the pain when the books that describe their lived experience were called disgusting, obscene, and depraved.”

Norway’s parliament votes to extend the abortion limit
Norway chose to adopt a new abortion law for the first time in 46 years when the country’s parliament voted to extend the abortion limit on Monday.
For years Christian Conservative forces have been attacking the abortion law in Norway. Today the Norwegian Parliament pushed forcefully back, liberalising key points of the law. Overjoyed to see that activism works! May this give hope to sisters around the world, still I fighting✊🏻

Advocates fear national book ban under unified GOP government
A Republican trifecta in Washington is raising concerns over the potential for national book ban legislation. Congressional Republicans have shown increased interest in the possibility, with House …
«Over the past two years, there have been over 200 bills in state legislatures proposing statewide book bans in school libraries or criminalized librarians for providing access to books that some people object to.»
This could be nation wide. Project2025 lays out how a national #bookban could work.

🧵Different cities had different strategies for clearing out the rubble and rebuilding. In Frankfurt chemists found a way to make a useful material -sinterbims- of the rubble, which could then be sold and reused in making concrete. This became essential in rebuilding the Frankfurt economy. 4/6 💙📚
