Just trying to plan ahead; do you intend to produce 2026 practice papers or not this year?
Assuming you are sorted but do let me know if you’re not. Happy to help.
#mathstoday Just had the one lesson with Year 13 further maths today as Year 11 had their mocks. We were spending time practicing identifying proper subgroups from a given group on a Cayley table.
Yeah my modeled method was explicit using a sketch and I told them to sketch and checked by using mini whiteboards but I was commenting on the way some naturally - even though they’ve been told not to - try to do it in their heads during independent practice or later during homework.
Probably 3 matches it best. We have 3 or 4 sow for year 7 and 8. The weakest is a separate supported sow. The others are broadly the same but harder aspects for the strongest. In Year 9 we make the initial split into higher or foundation although some change at a later point.
#mathstoday teaching a year 10 top set solving quadratic inequalities. Always find it’s a topic that students forget and always find that students - some didn’t disappoint today - look for short cuts in workings eg not sketching. They also tried to factorise 2x^2-50<0 rather than divide by 2 first 🤔
Until the resits?
Thanks for all your hard work!
This is my list. Some topics sometimes or usually come up twice which is why they’re on there again. Hope that helps.
OCR A most likely pure topics based on past paper analysis if anyone wants it ahead of Paper 2 or 3 (pure sections).
Of course please note that it difficult to assign topics to multiple topic questions so please remember the best bet is to revise everything #alevelmaths
Thank you. Really helpful.
- GCSE Maths AQA
- L2 Further Maths AQA
- GCSE Stats Edexcel (I haven’t taught this)
- A Level Maths OCR A
- A Level Further Maths OCR A FS and FM but looking to potentially swap FS for Additional pure
- Core Maths (I haven’t taught this so not sure what we do)
Just out of interest, because we might do the same, what is the reason you are switching gcse stats from edexcel to aqa?
Finishing off the GCSE Paper 3 resources & am so grateful for the praise that we've received 🤩
As a thanks, we're giving away lots of mugs & pens! 🎁

Yes please. Can you dm me your email?
Thanks for replying!
Which exam board is this?
Thanks for this. Super helpful. I really like Integral too. Do you happen to know the name of any of the other online resources that your colleges use?
Thanks for this. How do you let them choose practically? As we find some students pick further maths before results day then change their mind or don’t get the results etc. And how do you find resources? Mainly integral and textbooks or do you have other good sources or make your own?
Thanks for your help!
Yeah I love the integral resources and have been enjoying the new @drfrostmaths.bsky.social resources this year for a level so will definitely be using the integral resources for teaching further maths. Thanks for your help.
Thanks. Do you mean you have done further mechanics and further pure?
Thanks!
Thanks for your help. Do they generally find the further pure or mechanics harder? Assuming you’re edexcel?
Thank you! Did you find finding resources was ok?
Thanks for your help!
Not set on it. Got a cohort who we’ve taught a level maths too in year 12 and are now onto teaching further maths in year 13. They’re not keen on stats which stems from gcse stats (I think) so looking at alternatives to see if there is a better/ equally as good option. Do you have a view?
Thanks for replying. This is helpful. Switching back to stats and mechanics or something else?
No problem. Thanks for letting me know.
Nice. Do you find it difficult to find lots of resources for these modules and mainly stick to the textbook or is there lots out there? (And will you be adding videos to your outstanding collection for numerical methods?)
Thanks. Do you pick stats major as the other option or do you do two other minors?
