It's "I Saw The TV Glow" except the AI reflects your hidden needs back to you in ersatz ways. Instead of having to confront your own truths, you fall down the rabbit hole and build yourself a fantasy world based on algorithmic lies. And, more and more, they end up like this.
I really do get what it's like to be so alienated and disassociated from yourself that you project life and meaning onto anything that makes you feel seen. When you live like that, it's so easy for fantasy to feel real in a way that corporeal existence does not.
