Ikr?
My friend almost had hers cancelled because between the consultation and pre-surgery she'd changed weight in the 3 years between them 🙄
So she went on a dangerous crash diet.
Same for top surgery too.
Like b*tch please. If I'm gonna be under that BMI after the surgery, then wtf?
Optical illusion showing the shadow of a pillar over a chess board. Square B is in shadow, a is not. B appears to be a shaded white square, yet it is the same grey as an unshaded black square A.
Zoom in on A. It is the same shade as B
Zoom in on B is it the same shade as A
Depends in what's next to it?
E.g. the classic squares where A and B are the exact same shade 😭
Just because it's easier to ask for ~$40 than $110 -
Is there a reason not to go with the 128?
That *should* give you about 3hrs of 4k?
Turn up the red, turn down the green, and increase the blue to make it paler.
But also - yellow is a narrow spectrum so getting the *right* orange could be tricky.
That said - might be easiest to load up a colour wheel then tag whatever looks right.
e.g. The GICs we have take in tens of millions, while their main purpose is to delay or prevent transition.
e.g. we *could* have a giant fleet of huge robots to lift traffic across the Thames, it'd be a magnificent feat of engineering, and I'm sure they'd excel at getting cars across the Thames.
Or we could have bridges at a fraction of the cost.
You provided an infographic to back up a claim of "it's progressive" so the implication is that golf is progressive.
And I'm not saying "there's nothing it excels at", I'm saying of all the tools to do it, it's one of the worst.
Srsly. If diesel cars *only* used 31x the diesel that electric cars use, the reaction should also be "what the ever loving f**k is going on here?" not "this proves these electric cars are great". The next reaction should be "how about we don't do that?" not "let's do more of this"
Tl;Dr: We can say they're both bad.
One example is AI being used to improve cancer detection. Excellent use of AI, doesn't need a datacentre.
Unfortunately it was (and still is) starved of research money as when I was looking for grants 20 years ago, so they're still reporting results little better than 20 years ago as breakthroughs.
In the field of AI, LLMs were seen as a joke of an idea back when they were being designed about 80 years ago because they're a terrible idea.
It would have been cheaper to put that money in to making millions of specialist AIs.
And they wouldn't require 3% of the world's energy production.
AI *should* be good, but (and it's a big but) the LLMs they've been making are brute-force AI.
That's why they're so resource intensive.
Compare them with more primitive AI such as predictive text which (however bad it was and still is) could run on a Nokia 3310.
While it's good to point out that golf is bad, golf is infamously not progressive...?
And comparing the water use is like comparing electricity use of a diesel car and electric car in order to prove that electric cars are the biggest ecological disaster there.
JKR dug down a bajillion levels in to a thread where I besmirched her for cursing out a kid about trans people by "accident". Hadn't appreciated exactly how far off the deep end she was until she blocked me as that means she's spending her entire life reading all the comments like
P.S. If there genuinely was money in prescribing HRT, they'd be targeting middle aged cis people who are easy to prescribe them to, not trans children where you can lose your medical license.
"Despite their flaws"
They're worse than Reform and Tories because at least Reform and Tories are honest about being evil sh*tbags and hating minorities.
Labour spends their time explaining why *actually* they're curb stomping us for our own good and because they love us.
OK but the Tories and Reform have like 20% of Labour's seats in parliament between them.
And don't have a PM in power.
It is in fact entirely within Labour's power not to be the bad guys right now.
And doing a
"Therefore it's not discrimination if we take away sickle cell treatment from black people. You can't have a discrimination comparison against white people because they don't get it. Check and mate trolololol".
"There's no comparator group!" they cry.
As if the exact same treatments aren't given to cis people, but without all the psychiatric involvement.
This is like saying "we're revoking Prep from The Queers because how are we supposed to know it works if the normal people aren't using it?"
And then they have to keep charging for prescriptions and blood tests because the NHS won't do shared care.
It isn't private practices fault that the NHS refuses treatment 🤷♀️
A lot of the money the private clinics charge is to cover the diagnosis process the GMC requires. Which tbh is absolute bs. Everyone involved knows it's bs. Because it always comes down to "Are you trans? Do you want HRT? I can't exactly disprove it so *rubber stamp*".
Tl;Dr: No. The money is in *not* giving trans kids HRT.
Instead they're whining that private clinics are charging bank for work arounds to government bans.
Yet again they've banned the safe and legal routes, and act like they can't understand why people are using expensive, dubious ones 🤷♀️
If they care about the money being made, they'd ask why the NHS was spending it on using expensive PBs for too long instead of cheap HRT, and then doing expensive operations because they gave PBs too late *and* didn't give HRT.
And all this being done to give cushy jobs to psychiatrists.
If they really wanted to ~follow the money~, they'd be asking why the NHS has so many psychiatrists employed to ask trans people "are you trans?" then spending years acting shocked when they answer "yes".
Easiest job in the world given nearly everyone who walks through the door is trans.
*Bans giving children treatment on NHS*
"Oh noes! People are paying private clinics who take money to give them the treatment the NHS won't!"
Gosh. Aren't you a genius.
Meanwhile, puberty blockers *which we don't want* are expensive, while HRT *which we do* is cheap.
Biological essentialism yaaaaay
[Yes, yes they do]
Yup. Doesn't seem to sink in that the hormones *cause* biological differences, instead seeing them as a side effect of biological differences.
Didn't mention trans people at all (Catholic school, they only mentioned gay people to say the queers are going to hell), but they explained all the mechanics of hormones etc.
