Indiana has increased options for graduation as well, but none have to do with improving education. High school students who are not college bound are directed into work/study situations. That’s not improving education, that’s providing local businesses with minimum wage help during the school day.
“MDE attributes the increased rates overall to “quality instructional support from dedicated teachers across the state, increased options for meeting graduation requirements, and an increase of students completing Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.”
I’m a skeptic. I’m also a teacher in a red state, and I don’t believe the quality of education has changed or improved. Legislators do everything else to fudge the numbers. The following quote from the article is telling…
