I haven't got to it yet in my TBR pile but Les Jours Mauves by Kalindi Ramphul sounds like it might fit the bill!
A Word comment reading 'This chapter will give you a mental breakdown but don't panic because it gets easier again afterwards'
Translation notes to my future self
Absolutely beautiful piece about how translators aren't invisible and translation isn't just word for word.
"Is translation an art or an action? The answer is both, depending on the original. Literary translation is the translation of art, and so it must itself be art."

Starting a new translation today and already I've had to look up a building on Street View, identified a possible factual error and incorporated some Shakespeare—we're so back.
Two more weeks until the Stevns Translation Prize deadline! There's still time to enter! Tell all of your emerging translator friends: a book published internationally, mentorship, a beautiful retreat with a pond! www.stevnstranslationprize.com

I like "scream in the agony of the gouged"!
Would love to join!

Water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink 💦
I've been tempted by the Edinburgh Uni PhD, which allows you to do 'an extended scholarly translation with commentary'.
I had the same problem and discovered the proxy can apply to do your proxy vote by post from wherever they live in the UK - sounds fiddly but Manchester Council immediately sent the postal proxy form by email for my proxy to print, scan and return!
Just submitted my first full-length book translation to the publisher! Announcement coming soon. Now nobody ask me to make any decisions for at least a week because I just made 60,000 in a row 🛌
An email with blacked out sections leaving just the words ‘Dear Lisa, we’ve decided … your translation was … the best,’
Trying out a therapeutic version of rejection erasure poetry
