So, once the ruffle scarf was off the needles I discovered a few very important things.
Adjustment for length is way too long, even if patterned length still too long, & I dislike long and thin scarfs. So I decided to fold it over & like the weight and extra ruffles better.

Finished all the singles of the swedish helsinge lamb fleece. I spun the tog worsted straight from roving. The thel I hand carded into rolags & spun worsted. It’s going to be interesting seeing how both singles come out when plyed.

Completed star shawl, made with Sultan Deluxe yarn from Hobbii. I really love how the beaded tassels really make the rest of the textured design of this shawl *pop*.

Pattern is β€˜Persephone Shawl’ by KleinsFeinesAustria (etsy)

Decided to do up a different blackwork gate design. I really liked this design because of the globe lights on top of the pillars.

I wanted a β€˜quick win’ project, so I started up this basic ruffle lace scarf. I’m using some merino/nylon fingering yarn from my stash & some lovely mohair/silk yarn for a soft halo effect.

These platforms are just blanket verifying because of this as it’s too hard to work out whether you are actually in the countries with those laws or not due to ways people can location spoof. It’s not a money grab or something more sinister than that.

I’m Australian and since December 2024 have had to verify myself using formal ID with a number of websites to continue use due to under 16s being banned from YouTube, FB, twitch, discord, plus other socials. The UK is now implementing similar laws and other EU countries are developing them

Dear everyone. Twitch is asking for ID verification to assess age due to new laws in various countries regarding children not being allowed access/use of this website.

Blackwork victorian gate WIP.

I honestly don’t know why I decided to randomly stitch a gate (possibly just because it looked pretty?) & I kept forgetting to take progress pics as I went (so this is all I got).

Managed to use up most of the balls with plenty of solid orange left over for tassels! I decided to wet block it so I could better shape it during blocking. I definately didn’t get precious about getting the edges nice & straight either πŸ˜‚

WIP tablet woven band.

Tablet weaving is magic because the design you see is all made by the warp threads (the ones going around the loom pegs) & all the weft (the black thread on the shuttle) is doing is creating a stable matrix.

WIP tablet woven band. I always find the finished band on the loom highly satisfying to look at. This is approximately 4 meters & I like to finish the cut warp by plaiting.

Wool washing day was a whole afternoon affair. This is my 700 grams of merino suffolk cross from Scotts Creek Farm in NSW, Australia.

Getting there with the star shawl. I’m hoping that between the two cakes I’ll be able to get at least 1 more full pattern repeat plus some left over for tassels for each of the points.

Took an afternoon to sort the merinoXsuffolk fleece I bought end of last year for washing. This fleece is beautifully fine with a lovely tight crimp. I’ve separated all the locks & stacked them in rows wash bags, then sewn a β€˜pocket’ tack line between rows for washing.

Finally found the perfect pattern for these Hobbii Deluxe cotton cakes. I’m doing some colour doctoring by switching between cakes whenever the colour shifts so the overall gradient flows down the shawl.

Oh my word this is glorious @thebeastcub.bsky.social !
The way the crest flops is amazing, how on earth did you achieve that?

After a few false starts, the band is well under way. I’m still not convinced I made a good decision using black instead of a dark chocolate for the border/triangles, but regardless the overall pattern is lovely.πŸ₯°

I finally found a reason to break out this beautiful book I got last I was in America. Decided to make up a bouquet as a birthday gift for a family member. I have no idea how many pieces total were cut, but to say I was scared of the tray tipping over is an understatement!

Thought it’d be fun to show how much difference blocking makes to doilies. Left is unblocked, straight off the hook, very scrunchy looking. Right is after liquid starch blocking, which has opened up all the lace sections & uncurled the picot details.

Completed commission tail. This tail is poseable & was highly experimental with a lightweight foam core & industrial lockline with wire support for a gentle upwards curve & expressive side movement. It also features my signature hidden belt tunnel & unique gore cap design.
