Yeah, Iβve been looking at the Framework laptops. They seem really nice.

Iβve heard good things about Framework laptops. Actually looking at their site as I speak! Do you run Linux on it?
On the market for a decent Linux laptop, anyone have any suggestions?
Yeah, bonkers isnβt it π Jimmy messaged me the other day asking if I still had the original but I donβt π
Bit of bedtime reading of my new arrival.
Wow, didn't see Microsoft rewriting the TypeScript compiler to Go coming. Taking VS Code repo compilation times down from 63 seconds to 5 seconds. devblogs.microsoft.com/typescript/t...
Sounds reasonable, I did wonder if that was the case. Must definitely be a weight of the shoulders for you all then.
Definitely feels like AI code generation will amplify this problem, unless engineers will be rigorous in breaking the prompt cycle to examine the code to look for opportunity to tidy things up.
Pleased for you, must be a big relief for you and your family. Didnβt realise there was no preference for siblings, is there a particular reason(ie, funding, class sizes)?
This was my understanding too, but Iβm not expert on the matter so interested to hear what you find.
That was my thought too. Prime is a content creator who has a different motive to learning new languages. Probably not wise to "switch languages because Prime said it's cool" unless you really want to learn a new language.
Iβll see myself out π€¦ββοΈ
Yup! And NET coming back if I can help it π
Interested to know what you make of this book? I was deliberating between Staff Engineer book or The Staff Engineer's Path and decided on the later in the end. Plan to get the Staff Engineer book next though.
I miss the .NET drama!
This was long before ChatGPT existed and offered a suggestions in the IDE to convert it to Shouldly assertion, but ChatGPT could probably do the job these days :D
Seems like a good opportunity, I've not touched Shouldy in a while but we were always looking for help.
On a side note I actually recall toying with some code (I can't remember what it was called in .NET now) for converting FluentAssertions into Shouldy ones at one point.
I've not touched .NET in over 3 years so I'm totally out of the loop on all of this. @stu.dev and Joseph Musser have taken it over since then so forwarding your thoughts and prayers to them :D
Well done! Congrats!
An interesting side-effect of AI generated code, according to the latest DORA report, is that the increase in productivity resulted in larger batch sizes which in turn impacted software delivery performance.
Such a cool read. I remember how impressed I was with how well Quake 3 played online on the Dreamcast over a 33k modem.
Thanks for the share, lots of people in the list I follow on Twitter so glad to see theyβre on here too!
Pretty comprehensive list of Gophers that are now on BlueSky!
Great list, thanks for saving us the trouble of having to manually find everyone again!
Agreed, it's a fantastic photo.
I've been enjoying learning C recently so tempted to try some of it in that. Otherwise it's usually Go.
Really enjoyed this podcast interview with @ironmissy.bsky.social by @gergely.pragmaticengineer.com discussing some of the tooling at Google. I was especially interested in hearing how much focus they have on code readability. newsletter.pragmaticengineer.com/p/promotions...
@davidwhitney.co.uk did this recently using and posted his experience doing it here, might be helpful. bsky.app/profile/davi...
