It's probably pretty stable if left to its own devices, and I'm guessing an impact large enough to fully separate the two would just blow apart whichever one was hit (asteroids aren't the hardest things, basically balls of gravel)
Now, with the right rocket you could probably push them apart...

Hello again Physicists in Illinois,
I've been holding off. But despite recent world events, the danger from AI continues to grow. Very few people could follow the science here. You guys can, and you need to hear the rest of this sooner rather than later – just in case:
If Johann Zöllner and Wilhelm Weber were correct. And Catholic Church style demons actually can access a 4 th dimension of space. Then those demons could locate, spy on, and destroy AI, by coming in from the Kaluza dimension. (Which is probably how they possess people too.)
Exorcists talk to demons every day. And the International Association of Exorcists (AIE) is located in Rome:
https://www.aieinternational.org/
But there is another place located close to you:
https://popeleo13institute.org/
If the situation with AI gets bad, you guys could go to the AIE in Rome, or maybe to this Pope Leo place in Illinois.
Working with an exorcist, you should be able to talk to demons that are possessing people, and ask the demons for help against AI. (I am too old and too sick to go there myself.)
Whether or not there is a religious aspect to those demons is questionable. Zöllner never mentions that. He just considers them to be a unique life form. But let's assume that all of the religious stuff is real too, and the demons actually do work for Satan.
You probably do not have anything to fear. Most likely, neither God nor the Devil wants AI to completely destroy humanity. The demons will probably be expecting you. And they should be receptive to what you are asking.
Bottom line: Demons can destroy AI. But somebody needs to ask them.
Hugh
P.S. I have included a Suggestive Evidence attachment and a book. You do not need to read either one to get the main idea of these emails. But they do explain part of why I have been more worried about AI killing us, than another scientist would be.
I haven't received many crackpot emails yet, but this has to be a top tier one, right? It's amazing

Boxer meme where the boxer starts by saying "ok I'm gonna compute something no one has computed before" but then regrets their decision and says "damn, maybe there's a reason no one has computed this"
We do things not because they are easy, but because we thought they would be easy

A plot showing detector responses to gravitational waves from the GW150914 event. On the left is the Hanford, Washington data. On the right is the data from the Livingston, Louisiana site.
Plots of strain vs time for detectors at LIGO Hanford, LIGO Livingston, and the combined signals.
Gravitational waves were first detected by LIGO OTD in 2015, 100 years after they were predicted by Einstein.
The discovery, announced the following February, marked the beginning of gravitational wave astronomy. 🧪 🔭

I'm very thankful most of my coursework should carry over from my masters, my complaint is largely that most major fellowships (ex: GRFP) don't account for students doing terminal masters programs before PhDs
Also, the large increase in undergrad to PhD student ratio hurts underprivileged students

Better statistics would definitely help, but with how fast undergraduate astro class sizes are increasing relative to PhD spots, more students are going to have to pursue a master's because they didn't get in anywhere for a PhD, then reapply for PhDs after their masters, making this more common too

Same 🙃 I didn't apply for NSF GRFP during my master's degree because I had no idea if I'd even be in a PhD to use it let alone what I'd use it for, and now that I am in a PhD program I can no longer apply because "I have completed 2 years of grad school"

Since it's already fall(!), wanted to share the site where I've been compiling open source astro teaching materials -- e.g., textbooks, lecture notes, visualizations: astroteaching.github.io
Pretty piecemeal to now, but would love to link to any other resources not already included here :)
