It peeves me when I find a funny reaction video, and then I see the same video used by someone else making a significantly less funny joke with it.

I would like to be told in actual words rather this subterfuge

The only fluff that can get cut is Miyamoto shilling movies in these things now, but tbh it's probably the best way to promote that kind of thing. I'm not sitting through a 45 fucking minute Mario movie Direct.

All of that is going to stay in the 2010s, and honestly that's just fine. I think Nintendo Directs these days are mainly worried about banging out as many game ads as much as possible, which isn't at all surprising considering today's climate.

Back in 2015, when you had Bill Trinen gorging on donuts to promote Yokai Watch; or when Iwata's last direct was him, Reggie and Miyamoto as muppets, Mega64 and Mecha Fils-aime, Robot Chicken studio making jabs at localizing Mother 3 etc.

It's a combination of many factors; either people that have moved on from those positions or people who are no longer with us. It's just not feasible to expect these Directs to create the same pariah that they did circa 2015.

I don't think any game-showcasing programs can generate the same level of enthusiasm as Nintendo Directs were back in the late aughts-2010s, you're kind of naive to believe that it will ever be like that again

@otakon.bsky.social This compromise shouldn't come at the expense of your attendees, who've payed their money to come see these guests. I am contemplating even returning to another one of these events as a result.

@otakon.bsky.social I attended 2023, got autographs from international guests that attended with little issue. If the problem is a section of the dealers room becoming too crowded in one area because of lines forming as result of this, it is your responsibility to find compromise.

@otakon.bsky.social No one should be obligated to have to download an app that everyone in attendance of the event isn't even fully aware of. Because of arbitrary reasoning, you've potentially wasted people's time, money and goodwill for having implemented this system.

@otakon.bsky.social While I am happy to have gotten to see the international guests in some capacity—as they were the reason why I attended, I am left throughly unsatisfied and insulted that I was robbed of a chance to get autographs from these guests because of induced negligence.
