Very proud of the Femicide Censusβs new report released today: 2000 Women
#2000Women
This week we will be releasing a new report: 2,000 Women.
The report analyses the killings of 2,000 βsolved casesβ of woman-killing where a man has been found guilty of murder or manslaughter; or where not possible, has been identified by a state body as responsible for the woman/womenβs deaths.
I was happy to speak to @hannahalothman.bsky.social about women using social media to check out whether men they are seeing are known by other women to be abusive. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...
Just read your piece. Excellent.
Thank you for mentioning the Femicide Census.
A strong and sensitive piece by @shonaghdillon.bsky.social on what she has learned through chairing domestic homicide reviews, particularly moving on the lives, deaths and invisibly of older women.

This is such a good way to spend an hour. Iβm not particularly fond of disco, but Iβm very fond of and have huge respect for Harriet Wistrich. She has had such an impact on womenβs rights. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...
This is brilliant. Please read it.

Abused women and children cannot be used as pawns in power politics kareningalasmith.com/2025/01/08/a...
Me too. I feel so different.
I just shoved my Stilton leftovers in a broccoli and Stilton soup this afternoon.
Pffft.
Please pop round and refill it with the full box I have left. I want it over.
βI donβt believe in courting Mr Muskβs favour. Iβm happy to leave that to others. The rule is: donβt feed the trollβ

Weβve still got an entire Christmas cake.
I watched people sledging in the field across the valley from first light. Starting with 3 people, later 20 or so, now as the light fades, just a handful again.
It felt timeless. I live in a house thatβs about 250yrs old. Thinking of inhabitants watching sledging in that field over the centuries.

Good to hear Wes Streeting speaking in support of Jess Phillips and against Elon Musks disgusting and dangerous attack on her.
But I find myself going back there.
I didnβt make any New Yearβs resolutions, but maybe Iβll slip in a late one and itβs to move away from X to other platforms.
Maybe this one.
Grrr.
Itβs really hard to break the twitter habit. Iβd already cancelled my blue-tick subscription (was never convinced about taking it out) but Muskβs attacks on Jess Phillips were the last straw.
The platform is clearly now being run to further right wing politics. I donβt want to enable that.
Yes. I feel fortunate that I am able to enjoy the snow.
Iβm not planning on leaving the house for some time.
I think we can say it snowed in this little corner of Yorkshire. In fact, itβs still snowing now.
Thank you for sharing
Remember the names of the first three Doctors who died protecting British people from the COVID-19?
They were called:
Amged el-Hawrani
Adel el-Tayar
Habib Zaidi
Now tell me about Muslim migrants again.
Sod off Nigel Farage.

Thank you.
Iβve been fortunate to spend time with some of my closest friends and family in December. Iβm feeling fortunate, contented and grateful. And slightly knackered after hosting a houseful yesterday.
There isnβt a Tesco close to me. I have one packet in the freezer, and the filling will be creamed mushrooms. Iβm a fan of savory
more than sweet.
Honestly, I know it isnβt 1978 any more. But traditions are traditions. It shouldnβt be so hard to find vol au vent cases.
