I think it's time to raise hail criteria... Those weren’t storms that needed people to shelter in their lowest rooms for. Back in the day when people didn’t post pics, we didn't think 1” hail happened that often.

I think they happen often and don't require special actions to stay safe in.

Remember it's the same NWS which had their entire infrastructure crash and burn during MANY severe weather events up until the last few years... Supporting an app for the public? No way.

Their main text feed to the outside world (OI WeatherWire) still crashes monthly for several hours.

Back the bus up... The NWS is absolutely allowed to make an app.

SEE: NASA, EPA AirNow, DHS, FEMA, etc.

They chose not to.

Agree or disagree as you wish, but this was of NWS choosing and can be reversed if desired. There is no law preventing them.

This is just for in market. No change to out of market viewers.

Hey! Florida didn't really lose the title of "Lightning Capital of the United States".

That headline comes from a lightning network that has previously said Maryland and New Jersey were more lightning prone than Florida.

NLDN says Florida is the lightning capital since at least 2019.
