They are only a few id recognise from 1971-2 - I'd definitely recognise Jack Taylor, Clive Thomas, Pat Partridge (who I've met), Ken Burns, Norman Burtenshaw and Ken Baker (his 1st of 16 seasons as a Football Leage referee retiring in 1987) and a few other refs who went to referee the FA Cup Final

The decision he made when he angered Newcastle was he sent off Habib Beye for a perfectly timed tackle which led to a penalty after 10 minutes against Man City, we managed to hold them to a 2-2 draw. Styles got suspended by the PGMOL and partially as a result retired at the end of that season.

I think every ref in the history of the game has upset every club he has reffed at some point! 😆

David Elleray was an excellent referee in my opinion, but he's useless as a Football Lawmaker, the biggest nonsense being the handball Law. Styles was a decent ref as well, though he did upset us Toon supporters on occasions!

I think he was more worthy of a WC Final than the other 2 who got it! Klein should have got the 1982 Final instead of Coelho and Agnolin was by far the best ref at the 1986 Finals, he should have got that Final instead of Arpi Filho.

The Brazilian Wright who reffed the England V West Germany Semi-Final was decent as well!

The others named were excellent refs as well - Agnolin was in the same situation as Courtney, Italy got to the Semi-Finals so like Courtney his tournament was over. I admit I forgot about Fredriksen,he was very worthy of the Final as well,Vautrot was top class as well.He took no nonsense whatsoever.
