Loved all of this (and/especially Manjula's answer on making a life which one can 'me' as much as possible)
When I joined as the head engineer of the Torment Nexus project, it was to work on fascinating technical problems and make the world a better place along the way. I am appalled to discover that the Torment Nexus would be used this way and, now that my options have vested, will be leaving the project
me: "AI" as a public or public-facing technology is primarily oriented toward the performance of plausibility and the post hoc rationalization/justification of a priori assumptions on the part of the user or audience.
cs people: nuh uh!!!
I use neutral-toned matte eyeshadow sticks - ELF has some good ones, also Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Dune

(begging that perimenopausal folx / trans folx are just given a box filled with hormone-infused soil to bury ourselves in for the duration, like Dracula in his ocean crossing to Whitby)
And 'The Bone Temple' is even better again; more unsettling but/and more measured; first time in an age I've been in a cinema where the audience has spontaneously applauded during the film (and again at the end).
Bought a metronome.
a) EXCITEMENT b) I feel I'm going back to my older stuff a bunch bc i) it's still interesting ii) and horribly relevant iii) abd good to think abou things again with a crumb more maturity / knowing how to be in the world
And may I suggest also, Chapter 5 of 'Systems Ultra' (Verso) on payment processors and the adult industry? :)
DOKTOR CAPTAIN INGLEBERT!!!!!!!!!!

I am KEEN to discuss both of these with you (in my 40s)
Two mostly black kittens of decidedly mixed parentage. One is sitting on a 20mm gunβs ammunition drum and the other is climbing on its sight.
The 20mm Oerlikon cannon was a deadly weapon in the right hands. It also made a fantastic climbing frame for cats, as Pussy and Mickey are demonstrating on Polish merchant ship SS Kordecki off Normandy, summer 1944.

anyone know of any good papers on how the vocal tone/inflection of the ChatGPT voice interface was/is trained?
(every Christmas card handwritten in my illegible, Guy-Fawkes-after-torture scrawl is a poke in the eye against the frictionless perfection of AI!!)
Screengrab from 'A Muppets Christmas Carol' - Scrooge calls down from his window to a young boy below, on a snowy day.

Guildenstern: I don't believe in it anyway.
Rosencrantz: What?
Guildenstern: England.
Rosencrantz: Just a conspiracy of cartographers, then?
