Doechii ft. SZA – Girl, Get Up. [7.86]
thesinglesjukebox.com/doechii-ft-s...
"This confrontation of misogynoir sounds intimate and infinite, simultaneously a conversation between just two friends and for an entire industry." (Wayne Weizhen Zhang)
14/15
Robyn - Talk to Me [7.75]
thesinglesjukebox.com/robyn-talk-t...
"At once familiar and novel, “Talk to Me” finds Robyn more assured of the dance verities through which she survived a dishonest decade" (@sotoalfred.bsky.social)
13/15
Mitski- Where's My Phone [7.43]
thesinglesjukebox.com/mitski-where...
"A less confident songwriter would have added a bunch more faff to push the metaphor; Mitski keeps her lyrics short, as usual, and the result is surgically precise, heavy, and desperate." (@wgwgsa.net)
12/15
Dave ft. Tems - Raindance [7.22]
thesinglesjukebox.com/dave-ft-tems...
"If Dave’s best moments on his latest chart-scrapping big one are still his corniest, perhaps that’s perfectly fine and perhaps there’s something moving even about that" (Andrew Karpan)
11/15
Ella Langley - Choosin' Texas [7.08]
thesinglesjukebox.com/ella-langley...
"She must admit that he may have made the right choice [...] It’s that sort of resigned fatalism, more than any fiddle or Dobro, that is country music’s true national language." (Taylor Alatorre)
10/15
Pooh Shiesty - FDO [6.83]
thesinglesjukebox.com/pooh-shiesty...
"Reminds me of when I’d see my brother play futbol — the smooth turns, the patient passing, the tight disciplined tackling, someone in full control of their instrument and ready to use it in any manner necessary" (Nortey Dowuona)
9/15
Zara Larsson - Midnight Sun [6.22]
thesinglesjukebox.com/zara-larsson...
"A summer anthem that somehow works better the further away from summer we get" (Joshua Lu)
8/15
Olivia Dean - So Easy (to Fall in Love) [5.86]
thesinglesjukebox.com/olivia-dean-...
"So wholesome that it makes Burt Bacharach sound like 100 gecs" (@morayati.bsky.social)
7/15
Harry Styles - Aperture [5.83]
thesinglesjukebox.com/harry-styles...
"I love seeing Harry Styles leaning into being a weird little guy rather than a sexy rockstar" (@albatrossalex.bsky.social)

EsDeeKid - 4 Raws [5.71]
thesinglesjukebox.com/esdeekid-4-r...
"God, I wish I’d never heard the Timothée Chalamet version" (@ismathers.bsky.social)
4/15
Lil Uzi Vert – What You Saying [5.50]
thesinglesjukebox.com/lil-uzi-vert...
"I don’t know if I actually like this, but it’s such an interesting experiment that I’m willing to see where it goes" (@alcartoonist.bsky.social)
3/15
Manifest – Amatör [5.43]
thesinglesjukebox.com/manifest-ama...
"There’s something cathartic about listening to this particular girl group make an anthem explicitly rebuffing male ego" (@loneclaire.bsky.social)
2/15
Zach Bryan - Plastic Cigarette [4.89]
thesinglesjukebox.com/zach-bryan-p...
"If I was Zach Bryan’s manager, I wouldn’t know which song to pick for a single. But if I was Zach Bryan’s manager, that would be the least of my problems." (Julian Axelrod)
As ever, this month our collective have reviewed 15 current hits. Here is a thread of our posts, in ascending score order!
1/15
Haven ft. Kaitlin Aragon - I Run [3.00]
thesinglesjukebox.com/haven-ft-kai...
"Top of the Slops" (@liamwalds.bsky.social)
Got my shit together to blurb one (1) song this month for @singlesjukebox.bsky.social. Click for a bunch of smart opinions and also the thing I wrote, lol! thesinglesjukebox.com/harry-styles...
If I'm right about which one, I just checked and we reviewed it in 2011 on @singlesjukebox.bsky.social!
thesinglesjukebox.com/carly-rae-je...
(not just posting this because I was one of two who already recognised how great it was. Well, not entirely)
Haven's "I Run" makes it way back from a chart ban, and even one of our writers who didn't know about its AI controversy pegs it as AI:
thesinglesjukebox.com/haven-ft-kai...
Our UK chart catch up day ends with EsDeeKid's "4 Raws", and Julian gives us a ranking of which other Oscar nominees should remix it:
thesinglesjukebox.com/esdeekid-4-r...
We review "loquacious and dorky as ever" Dave and "absolutely incredible" Tems:

Iain Mew: The easiness is a natural follow-on from songs about being nice to each other and just talking to her, but I like it a lot more for two reasons. One is just how full-on that ease is, a commitment to pillowy lushness in all aspects that matches up to Olivia Dean’s gorgeous vocal and the words of dreams and cake and heaven. The other is how that’s set off by the hint of something else that’s in there, at least by implication. You don’t sing about how easy you are to fall in love with and how “anyone with a heart would agree” without the possibility that the recipient might yet turn out not to have that heart. [8]
For @singlesjukebox.bsky.social, I wrote about the new Olivia Dean single, my favourite one so far:

A computer monitor on an office desk with a Microsoft Word document open and icons visible outside the window, several of which are for Memphis beta testers
Screenshot from the Memphis beta version of Windows, with the same Memphis Beta Tester Web and Memphis Beta Guide icons visible
according to the music video for "Easy to Fall in Love," Olivia Dean is a beta tester for Windows 98
Do we find it so easy to fall in love with Olivia Dean's new single? Results vary: thesinglesjukebox.com/olivia-dean-...
Our last (and favourite) song for today is Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas"

"people choosing to turn their money into weird shit" - our day of reviewing current US hits continues with Lil Uzi Vert:
thesinglesjukebox.com/lil-uzi-vert...
It's time for February's Jukebox week! We start off by reviewing the USA's current #1 single, by Bruno Mars:
thesinglesjukebox.com/bruno-mars-i...
One thing that I’m really proud of accomplishing last year are my consistent contributions to @singlesjukebox.bsky.social—I wrote over 120 song reviews that, when combined, totaled over 20,000 words! I thought I’d make a thread some of the most noteworthy songs I covered over the course of 2025.
You can read what we said last April about the UK's current #1 single: thesinglesjukebox.com/djo-end-of-b...
