Our bryozoan paper is out in @genomeresearch.bsky.social! Led by @tomlewin.bsky.social, we report genome shuffling across the phylum and synteny evidence for the Lophophorata hypothesis. Grateful to John Bishop @thembauk.bsky.social and the DToL project for sharing openly!

A beautiful, many-eyed Polyorchis sp. I caught this summer at Friday Harbor Labs. All those red dots around the bell are little eyes (also called ocelli)!

Feeding time! Nematostella vectensis (and all cnidarian) tentacles are covered in stinging cells called cnidocytes that harpoon and inject venom into their prey, in this case a drop of juvenile brine shrimp.

After suspension for sexual harassment, prominent biologist’s return to campus prompts dismay University of California, Irvine graduate student reported Bruce Blumberg after conference trip she called “absolute nightmare”

Gillman overturned the suspension. WTAF? Is the chancellor the king? That is ridiculous. We need a new investigation here. Believe the students! www.science.org/content/arti...

Larval swimming in the sea anemone Nematostella vectensis is sensitive to a broad light spectrum and exhibits a wavelength‐dependent behavioral switch Ecology & Evolution is a broad open access journal welcoming research in ecology, evolution, and conservation science, and providing a forum for evidence-based views.

A lovely undergrad-led study is now out from our lab on wavelength-dependent swimming behavior in sea anemone larvae! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...
