Which, to be clear, means MPD is violating the law

This is the Council's chance. To keep DC safe, DC councilmembers can and must take these actions:
Demand that MPD end all voluntary cooperation with the federal occupation of DC
Demand that MPD rescind Order 25-005
Ban MPD and DC police from sharing information with ICE
DC residents have been forced to beg their representatives and leaders for answers and accountability from a police force that has already inflicted decades of harm -- a force that just last year happily rehired two convicted murderers after they were pardoned by Donald Trump
Even though the official federal takeover ended months ago DC residents have continued to endure occupation by federal agents, ICE, and the national guard -all of this voluntarily aided and abetted by DC police
Remember that not only are there hundreds of witnesses and videos documenting DC police handing people over to ICE, patrolling with ICE, and riding in the same cars as ICE--there are in-depth exposes detailing MPD-ICE collaboration published by both the New York Times and the Washington Post
While Assistant Chief Andre Wright just sits there literally repeating "I have no recollection."

This is the DC police choosing to collaborate with the feds. Not being forced. Choosing too. Like they have consistently chosen to work with them for decades. Because there is no daylight between them, their tactics, or their violent goals.
