Slowpoke is only in LeafGreen, so that's off the table. I may try and get Chansey but the reality is that I'm not that patient. Eevee apparently only evolves in RSE because FRLG has no clock, so its validity is debatable.
The theme for this run is Pokémon I can only evolve on the postgame. Onix is here for Strength and Dig and eventually Rock Smash, and is subject to replacement. Charmeleon is on borrowed time until I get a Poliwhirl or a Seadra.

For me personally, I'm content either playing RBY or FRLG. RBY gives me the bigger nostalgia fuzzies, that much is certain.
The only area where I think FRLG suffers is with its remixes - I think RBY and LGPE sound a lot better, but that may be more due to the GBA hardware.
They aren't bad by any stretch of the imagination. They're less exploitable than RBY and that may be why some people prefer Gen I. It might also be that the QOL improvements don't go as far as later games did, so a lot of mons still have crappy GSC movesets and are harmed by no Phys/Spec split.

45 nuggets x 5000 pokédollars ÷ 20 (as 50 coins cost ₱1000) = 11250 coins. That's enough for Porygon (9999 coins) but not a whole lot else.

I've done the maffs and I only need like 28 Nuggets to afford Scyther, Porygon, the elemental TMs, and a Yellow Flute. I think I got to 40 Nuggets last night before I'd had enough.
Either I'm going to be rich af for the rest of the game or my maffs suck and I need 280, but I'm done. 😁
I'm playing FireRed and using the Nugget exploit for the first time. My plan is to rob Team Rocket of all their Nuggets, then give all my money back to Team Rocket so I can buy enough game coins to get Porygon and Scyther without playing the slots.
Maybe Dratini too.
