I aspire to exude as much confidence as this little Kinesin protein strutting along a microtubule while hauling intracellular cargo.

Look at that little guy go! πŸ”¬πŸ§ͺ

amy diehl speaks with Zain Asher on the Epstein Files

I spoke with @CNN's Zain Asher about the casual misogyny of the Epstein files. Beyond criminal abuse, there was another harm: reinforcing male-dominated networks of money & power. The problem wasn’t access to himβ€”it was women’s exclusion from opportunities those networks controlled.

🚨Do. not. use. individual's. actions to. attack. whole. groups.🚨
Not unless you want to take the blame for every person in your social demographic.
Bad people exist in every group. That's not an excuse to use the actions of individuals to target those groups, particularly already marginalised groups

"This is how men behave."

YES, ASSHOLE, THAT IS WHAT WE ARE MAD ABOUT.

We want efforts directed to dismantling, rather than defending, systems of women's worth that are based on their perceived sexual attractiveness.

Because that is the same system that perpetuates sexual harassment and abuse.

It was extra special having the viva at @edinburgh-uni.bsky.social Futures Institute, formerly the Royal Infirmary - wheee I do the majority of my undergraduate training and my house jobs. I’m standing here between Wards 14 and 15 for those who recall the old place! /end

V happy to have passed my PhD viva today with no corrections!

Spending the last five years examining how gender shoes the experience of training and working in ICM has been so rewarding

Qualitative research is challenging, fascinating and actual lots and lots of fun! 1/

When you register your name in the Icelandic phonebook you can choose to state your profession. And they have a pretty loose definition of what exactly a profession entails.

This person for example has opted for β€žΓΎjΓ³Γ°hetjaβ€œ. It means β€žNational Heroβ€œ.

What nonsense is this? Are we really going to have a debate about tax/spending on these terms? I don’t have children or living parents, yet cheerfully pay Council Tax for education and adult social care BECAUSE I LIVE IN SOCIETY

Having said this I am not sure whether starting iv sedation infusion at the point of bolusing NMBs is standard in N America and if so, that fixes the problem

However with roc, pt may be aware after multiple attempts to intubate. They are paralysed which makes ongoing airway Mx easier but ongoing sedation is needed to prevent awareness

@davidsonofaaron.bsky.social wrote about being aware during ICU intubation in @thetimes.com and it’s sobering reading

People are sharing this, horrified, even though this was Suella Braverman's entire act back when she was a government minister and she isn't one anymore.

Groups of visitors walk along the path, surrounded by the remnants of brick structures and barracks, now reduced to foundations. Green grass contrasts with the somber history of the site, as the path leads toward a guard tower in the distance.

Auschwitz was at the end of a process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred gradually developed: from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

Especially for our patients, with reactive airways or limited pulmonary reserve?

Alex Pretti "used to tell people off when they made sexist comments to female physicians. He bought me coffee when I had a really bad day as an intern...I laughed alongside him daily. He made a point to teach medical residents without judgement, but with a smile on his face and a joke."
