Definitely TRY a thundershirt. You don't have to buy one. An infant t-shirt from the op shop is a cheap alternative. Even an old bandage wrapped around the dog's back will do. Needs to be firm but not too tight. Has the same effect as 'swaddling' a baby. It doesn't work for all dogs, but worth a go.

I’m annoyed about wrap-around plasticised labels on containers. I’m looking at you yoghurt manufacturers. And plastic packaging for sugar, biscuits, chocolate blocks, individual ice creams etc. What’s wrong with paper and cardboard? It was good enough for decades.
