In the olden days you'd have to sit around all day waiting for a parcel to arrive. Now, thanks to technology, you can see the exact time window a delivery driver will pretend you're not in so he can not deliver it. What a time to be alive.
Filthy weirdo creep.
They abso-fucking-lutely know what they'd be saying I'd a creepy weirdo reform guy had the same history.
I've just seen someone on the other place insist that they want to put badgers on the banknotes to erase our national identity and to be inclusive towards the foreigners they're importing to replace us. Starting to think we were a bit too hasty making lunatic asylums unfashionable.
OK, OK, and they've not done James Clerk Maxwell either. So one more run with you, Jimmy, Margaret Rutherford, Beatrix Potter, and then the animals.
How many of the greatest Britons *haven't* been on a note by now? We must be rapidly getting down to Norman Wisdom.
Bit disappointed in him he didn't ask for a round million.
FIFA could do something good for once and announce that they'll be replaced by a ROTW side from all the players that didn't qualify or, even better, didn't make their country's squad...

Good people take the good bits of the bible and ignore the bad bits. bad people take the bad bits of the bible and ignore the good bits. Almost like they don't need the bleddy book in the first place.
it would make me almost certain to not vote Labour is this happened, but as astonishing as it is, they'd be much better off electorally right now with Corbyn as PM than Starmer.
I realise you're just supposed to say that "X party would be so much more popular if only it did what I always wanted it to do", but if Labour shift to a radical program to get back the left wing vote, even at the expense of the centre, it'll romp the next election.

When I said 'Kemi Badenoch is so partisan, under her the Tories would oppose puppies and kittens if Labour said something nice about them', I didn't mean it literally.

That's interesting to know, genuinely, but it's certainty not as clear cut as "opera was beloved by the working classes all over Europe, except in UK". In the stuff I've read (which admittedly I self select for its parallels to my background) I honestly got no hint opera was for or of the masses.
That's as maybe, but it would I think be hard to argue that Zola isn't himself part of the European cultural canon, and even harder to argue that someone rereading him doesn't partake in it because of reverse snobbery.
I'm re-reading Zola's Germinal at the minute, the good people of Montsou don't seem all that fussed about opera if I'm being honest.
Cambridge has another university that's actually called Cambridge University? Every day's a school day.
Cricket has always had strong working class roots. Every pit round here used to have a cricket team, and local cricket leagues might not be thriving as they once were, but they're still there.
Agreed. As a football fan nothing, but nothing, has angered me more that when we've been beaten by cheating. Nobody talks about the fact that diving, and pretending you've been struck, still very prevalent in the championship and below, have been almost entirely eliminated from the top of the sport.
Football tactics chat is basically blokey astrology. "The thing about United is they had Mars in Aries, bound to struggle playing Mars in Aries. They should definitely play a Saturn conjunction tonight." Cue the game being decided by some fella randomly skying one from 6 yards.
Yeah, I get that, they give a vibe. She's incredibly smart though, the CEO running things day to day, and they've invested sensibly and sustainably, recruited well, shown patience when it's been needed, and improved all the infrastructure tremendously. Attendance av. from 2k to 8k under them.
