The Trump admin is more corrupt than any in recent history—which is the part that feels distinctly more overwhelming than in the past—but the late 1960s-early 1970s were a violent and frightening time for many people.
Because it wants its legitimacy to be considered self-evident. This, we’re meant to understand, is simply the way of the world — with our betters acting as laws unto themselves, while we simply take their orders.
