People will use MLK's words to shame protesters like he wasn't in their place 70 years ago being brutalized by the police. Nonviolence never made the government treat him with nonviolence.
There are people in government who were old enough to hate MLK when he was alive and they did. Now, they make a statement about judging people on the content of their character like he meant we should ignore how racism affects people and just act like race doesn't matter.
Tomorrow a bunch of moderates & conservatives will act like MLK only wanted people to get along. They will forget most of the US hated him and water down his anti-war, wealth-redistribution, racial equity beliefs into the most palatable version. Remember he was assassinated!
