Last weekend we held a Trans Day of Rememberence event to commemorate the friends and siblings we have lost and to organise to try to make sure we don't lose any more. This is a memorial banner signed with the names of our lost trans siblings. #nomoredeadfriends

A digital collage with text at the top reading Movie Night! In yellow, glitchy-looking text. Underneath, text reads the hive, oct. 25, 7pm, free, rsvp. The whole collage has a background of blue static, with a retro tv, yellow lamp, and rats layer on it as though the rats are gathered to watch a movie.

Header reads: the people under the stairs, 1991. Below is an image of a retro tv screen with a still from the movie, in which a 13-year-old boy with brown skin is hunched in an enclosed, dusty space. He holds a lit lighter in one hand, and is investigating a somewhat bloody pile of fabric with the other. Text beside the tv reads: 13-year old Fool is desperate to help support his family as eviction and cancer come knocking.
Paying their landlords a visit, he finds himself trapped in their sadistic, white supremacist family life.
Facing down pure evil, Fool is determined to escape and do right by his community.

Header reads: I walked with a zombie, 1943.
A retro TV shows an image of two women in a corn field, one staring intently at something off screen. The other stares at the ground, as though refusing to look. The women are both dressed in a vintage style, and the film is black and white.
Beside the tv, text reads: Based partially off of Jane Eyre and grounded in post-colonial Haiti, this pre-Romero zombie picture transcends its tabloid-ish title and delivers a shimmering and surreal tale of unseen suffering, both political and emotional.

A retro tv contains the image of a young scientist, his eyes wide with excitement and fear. In one hand, he holds a glowing green syringe. On his other side, a hand reaches towards him out of a shadow.
Beside the tv, text reads: So much joie de vivre he demands an encore.
A brilliant and obsessive academic just can’t get enough of bringing back the dead with his best guy friend. Just a friend. They were roommates.
Shockingly, this comes with some consequences that just won’t die.

Ever notice how fear is taught and learned in a social and political context, which produces entertainment media about said fear? Yeah, us too! We're hosting a movie night about it!

Green text over a green washed leafy background. Text reads, in a gothic font:
fags and dykes were not
persecuted for “love,”
but for fucking
and who does it help
to pretend otherwise?
to make a case for ourselves
as good liberal subjects?
as if all we ever wanted
this entire time
was to be legitimated,
subsumed,
allowed to transfer property
through that holy institution of marriage
for the state
to raise our flags in the legislature
and be seen Seeing You and Hearing You and Feeling Your Pain
to dredge a body back up and bury it anew
m. a. clark
On a teal bar at the bottom reads:
Excerpt from Alt Trans Narratives, Vol 3 of the TSTG Zine, available now!

Alternative Trans Narratives (zine vol. 3) asks us to peak under the surface of trans representation and look for something more honest. If you like this poem by M.A. Clark, you'll like the rest of the text, too.

A poster with the text "Rally for trans rights" in large letters. "Sept. 20, 10am legislature grounds. Celebration of trans lives & perseverance" is written in smaller, yellow letters. "Chalk Art!" and "Queer Joy!" are written to either side. Dandelions are doodled around the text, and the round Tuesday Group logo is in the upper right hand corner.

September 20th marks the 3rd anniversary of trans people standing together to affirm our rights. We support each other in hard moments, but this year we get to celebrate our community with a bit more joy.
Join us at the Legislature at 10am for chalk art and community connection!

Tuesday Group Made a Zine! $5 - What stories do you tell about yourself? Others? How do you understand your own gender? We often carry narratives, unquestioned, about who we are supposed to be, and how we are supposed to dress, and ways we are supposed to act. Where you "born in the wrong body?"

Foreword
Facts do care about your feelings. Our understandings of the world are rooted just as much in emotion and narrative as in empirical data. Guided as we are by our personal experiences, we use narratives to make sense of the things we
have encountered.

The table of contents is listed: HRT of Fire by Astrid G., green acorn silver & myelin, keep me warm by Raymond Lyttle, Gender Abolition as Sublation by Izzi, We Know, by a friend, holding your hand, trans people have not always existed by m. a. clark, the river of blood by chaia eran, Things you don't know about gender by Various TSTG Members.

Or have you “been {policed/coerced/pressured} by others to {be a man/be a lady? Is there freedom in exploring your gender? Horror, discomfort, joy?

the foreword continues: We have found the existing popular narratives about trans people to be inadequate. Take, for example, the common expression “born in the wrong body.” To the exclusion of all other aspects and expressions of transness, this simplistic framing overfocuses on one aspect of our being (the body) and fails to capture the vast array of alternate possibilities within that space.
But how do trans people actually feel, and explain their lives? Which narratives go unacknowledged by mainstream accounts of trans identity? What avenues for our understandings of self and gender go unexplored?

The Foreword continues: We’ve asked our {friends / comrades / fellow trans(s)exuals / other freaks} for their takes, stories, and explorations of self hoping to find new ways to convey what it’s really like
to be trans.
This zine emerges from a desire to challenge what we see as the dominant narratives surrounding gender and sexuality and to replace them with new narratives, stories, ways to understand us. What is missing or misunderstood in mainstream conceptions of transness, trans people, and trans communities? What is missing from trans communities themselves? What assumptions need to be challenged? What new things can we learn?

Active Hope is a practice. Like tai chi or gardening, it is something we do rather than have. It is a process we can apply to any situation, and it involves three key steps. First, we take a clear view of reality; second, we identify what we hope for in terms of the direction we’d like things to move in or the values we’d like to see expressed; and third, we take steps to move ourselves or our situation in that direction. Since Active Hope doesn’t require our optimism, we can apply it even in areas where we feel hopeless. The guiding impetus is intention; we choose what we aim to bring about, act for, or express. Rather than weighing our chances and proceeding only when we feel hopeful, we focus on our intention and let it be our guide
