This is interesting because also you have to be thinking about facets of parasocial familiarity, is the tweaking of minor information bit like giving unwanted advice and will it be perceived that way, and do people realize how derailing it is?

is this true, helpful, kind, is a useful rubric for when to post, but tbh I feel like a lot of folks need to ask themselves, Do I have any kind of relationship with the person I’m responding to? Would I like it if a stranger interrupted me with the thing I’m about to say in the grocery store?

I think the problem is assuming the person is ignorant versus misspeaking. If I have a twelve talking point thread and I say house instead of senate on post two, I can't go back and fix it without killing an entire thread. But also, I'm fairly well read so assuming that I know this helpful.

Today on People's Court.

The Plaintiff is suing the owner of a Cat who was driving a vehicle without a license.

I had to learn how to phrase questions because I love clarification so I don't misinterpret, but that's really , really hard, because you're right, people can often take it as you challenging them when you really just need help.

I get why the compulsion is there, but I'm autistic, too, and I hate it. A LOT.

There's also a volume factor when you have over thirty thousand followers of so many "helpers" that you did not ask for and you really wish you had an edit button.

Because I know, and you know, very likely, that if I could go back and edit that one word to senate instead of house I would have, but you just had to say something.

There are 0 instances where you are coming across as helpful or anything other than a pimple on my ass.

The end result was I blocked most of them.

Because if I can't tell the spirit with which you correct? You're just correcting me uninvited and I hate it.

This manifested a lot when I talked about disliking Schumer, and I mentioned to the house by accident, but I meant the senate. So many people replied to correct me, and it was very unclear if they were trying to defend Schumer by implying I was stupid or just "being helpers."

Pedantry is one of my least favorite attributes.

I think there's a neurodivergent factor here that comes in, but if the spirit of a message is there and you are choosing to ignore it so that you can correct a small point where it's obvious a person misspoke, you are not a helper.
