Greenville, South Carolina Greenville combines history, culture, and culinary delights with year-around outdoor adventure. It may be the biggest little city you’ll ever love. In terms of population, Greenville, South Carolina doesn’t near six digits, but that’s a win for those looking for big city vibes in a small footprint. Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, you can practically taste the woodsy aroma of pine and hardwoods as you stroll through its charming downtown.

Noem Incorrectly Defines Habeas Corpus as the President’s Right to Deport People

Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary, bungled answers on Tuesday about habeas corpus, incorrectly saying that the legal right of people to challenge their detention by the government was actually the president’s β€œconstitutional right” to deport people.

Can you see them? Baby tomato plants reaching for the light, their very first leaves raised to capture the sun's energy. Their destiny is to produce edible fruit. My task is to care and nurture them to that purpose. There is poetry is everything.

It's not just about Black people. You are negatively affecting much more.

Gotcha! For an agent, this might be like when someone strolls through the new releases shelf at a bookstore and picks up a book they would not normally read and are blown away. I’ve found some of my favorite books this way. This is the magic of storytelling.

Bravo Barbara! This is the first I’ve heard of Lawrence’s book. Not to boast, but I’m glad you’re my friend.

Humbly asking, if you had no idea you wanted it, why did you request the MS?

It’s still 1888 in my WIP, still in the south of France, but I’m here 2025 in North Carolina telling the story of a woman whose fascination with Vincent Van Gogh opens her heart to love her husband before he dies.

I loved this bookβ€”thank you for bringing this gutsy Victorian woman to life in the 21st century. Happy birthday Aleen.

After five years of hiatus with personal health scares, family medical trauma and losses, I opened my WIP--a novel set in belle epoch France--and found it's holding up. #WednesdayWins

Wait until you’re finished. This accomplishes several things: 1) you maintain momentum as you’re writing, and 2) you don’t get distracted by comments. Your first draft is all about telling the story, start to finish, without back and forth edits. Consider reader comments in subsequent drafts.

@pennyhaw.bsky.social Thanks for following me! I loved THE INVINCIBLE MISS CUST and am looking forward to reading more of your books. We will never run out of stories about smart women never hearlded.

Exactly! I keep them in order of placement within original doc, which also helps.

Just want to remind people that not all disabilities are visual. Thank you
@lillielainoff.bsky.social
for this amazing graphic. Lillie Lainoff is author of a gender-bending retelling of The Three Musketeers featuring a character with an invisibile disability that threatens her ability to succeed.

Absolutely great advice! Anytime I cut a scene or section I add it to a special doc called "[Title] Cuts." I've resorted back to using the cuts in other pieces as well.

I feel ripped-off by the Weather Channel. It promised snow in the wee hours of morning. I rose from bed giddy in hope for a dusting to glimmer in the day. Not a single flake in sight. Can I report the Weather Channel as a scammer?

The nexus between two holidays. Every year I bring out my mother’s Christmas china the day after Thanksgiving. The first meal I serve is what I call Thanksgiving Benedictβ€”leftover stuffing layered with turkey, eggs & drizzled with turkey gravy. This, to me, is as good as the feast the day before.

On a gray day in the fall just remember the pup on the beach in the summer and your heart will smile.

You’ll find face jugs in many pottery studios throughout the American South, while these are just a sample from the studio of Crystal King, a well-known potter from Seagrove, NC. The Seagrove area is renowned as a hub for artists, particularly potters.
