Librarian finds β€˜preposterous number’ of fake references in paper from Springer Nature journal Gunnar RidderstrΓΆm/Pexels As a hospital librarian, Jessica Waite is typically successful at tracking down elusive articles for clinicians at Royal Hallamshire Hospital in England. So when a colleag…

Fake references make Waite’s job as a librarian β€œso much harder,” she added.

β€œI expect this on the wider internet, but not in reputable scientific journals,” she told us. β€œβ€¦It’s really worrying.” retractionwatch.com/2026/03/06/l... #medlibs

Greta Thunberg on the current situation in Cuba. She comments on how the United States of America, and much of the western world, continues to starve Cubans to death. Cuba will win. Working class people will win. And we, the working masses, must stand in solidarity with the people of Cuba.

I'm starting to think projects of national importance might be a bad idea.

We need to realize that a large part of our political class sees democracy as beginning and ending on election night . After that we exist as nothing but abstract objects to be moved according to their will.

Trump’s military excursion, into an abyss The evident fact is that the president is nuts.

β€œThere’s no reason to expect that Trump’s Iranian debacle will prevent him from lighting yet another match of chaos or conflict. In fact, experience teaches that Trump bristling from a failure makes him more, not less, likely to do something equally stupid, and to do so soon.”

Here’s the Toronto establishment coming to bat for their boutique airport.

Not a stitch of evidence that this expansion would generate economic benefit, but they’re going to keep saying it until it destroys the actual asset: an attractive waterfront

It will be a Hurcluean undertaking to bring it back and not entirely in his control. The party marched itself to the centre and exiled its left. Can he lead a centrist party to the left, or is he doomed to Corbin's fate at the hand of the party apparatus? Only God knows. Will be fun to find out.

I will admit to being a civilian observer and not nearly as informed as you, but having observed our kid glove treatment to Chatgpt after Tumbler Ridge and seeing Carney's almost manic enthusiasm for AI, it's only a slight stretch to portray Carney as a tech bro fanboy.

Fun fact: the Wynne campaign threw it support to Ford, the last two weeks of the campaign in 2018. It's intervention was based on a fear that should the NDP take power, the Liberal Party would be reduced to a rump. We live with this decision to this day. I'm not bitter.
