going to see if I can make it to phase 2 of rivals 2 pools in supernova next week
that's fair. i haven't kept up too much with the meta shifts beyond a lot of heat being sent towards zetter and ranno (more so zetter)
what happened to wrastor? that's a steep drop from what I expected

I remember vaguely being a kid on SmashBoards and asking if they made tournaments for noobs, and people replying that they don't exist because people would lie to stomp people. These days, Arcadians exist all over the place. I wonder if they were just wrong and they existed then too
seeing people who got into smash due to documentaries makes me think how it wasn't like that for me. never watched any of the documentaries about the scene. just hacked my wii as a kid, played project m demos, and said "I like this type of game"
I'm not sure what is being seen with the MVS update, though I blame Rivals 2 for that. Hard to go back to that kind of movement
I'm going to buy the Switch 2 for Smash 6, realize it's ass after 500 hours, and then never touch it again until someone hacks it and makes another mod that makes a Smash game into not-Melee

2024 was a very unproductive year for me as my motivation to use my degree dwindled and I resorted to retail instead. 2025 may be more fruitful, maybe not. But I'll still be kicking.

More casual elements are also in the pipeline for the next two years...but for now it's only the competitive side. This is more of a fighting game problem than a Rivals 2 problem, though. Fighting games make you work for fun, and sometimes I want to click and reel a webfish without thinking instead.
I wish there were more ways to play Rivals 2 casually. If I want to queue with people online it's either "do I play free for alls...or do I want to drain myself either by playing high rank / top 8 contenders in casual queue or by struggling for ranked points"

people seem to over scale video game characters a lot in general. I wonder how much of it is just for the bit
