Barton could not attend court, as he is currently in police custody on Merseyside where he has been charged with a serious assault, the victim of which remains in hospital. Barton has three previous assault convictions, one relating to domestic abuse.

Neuroinflammation is such a broad term I don’t think it’s very useful in this context and can’t be measured with three little markers. If we’re looking at localized inflammation instead of MS type inflammation for example like Dr. Younger would suggest no way we’d pick that up like this

On Women’s Day, I want to tell you about Magdė Bankaitė. During the Lithuanian press ban 1864-1904, she smuggled Lithuanian books across the Prussian-Russian border. Lost all her teeth in an interrogation, deported to Siberia and carried on once back. Heroine died in a shelter for homeless.

The Quiet Work of Making Life Possible
Why sustainability (not effort) is the foundation of meaningful life.
Abby
Dec 29, 2025
Here’s a thing that’s easy to miss: Small changes rarely make a scene.
They don’t announce themselves.
They don’t arrive with a before-and-after photo. They’re not marked as milestones. They don’t even feel especially satisfying at first. Sometimes they feel almost… disappointing. Too small. Too ordinary. Too quiet to matter. Easy to dismiss. Easy to forget.
And yet (and this is the part I keep returning to gain and again) they’re often the exact changes that hold everything together.
I’ve watched this pattern long enough that it’s hard to unsee. In work with people living with energy-limiting conditions, the moves that restore a sense of life aren’t dramatic. They’re precise. They’re humble. They tend to slip under the radar because they don’t look like progress the way we’ve been taught to recognize it.
No long list of tips in this particular blog post by this knowledgeable OT but I agree with the general points e.g. small changes in things like energy conservation and routines can make worthwhile differences.

Disability accommodations are a rare thing that actually trickles down. You like curb cutouts? Auto-opening doors? Jar openers? Ramps? Hand rails? YOU’RE WELCOME
Even as an abled person you use disability accommodations every single day.
Supporting accommodations actually helps everyone.

I keep seeing studies
which find how Covid
damages the brain
and the lungs
and the heart,
and a new study finds
it raises the risk
of kidney disease too,
all of which is why
you will find me
still wearing a mask.

It’s a little-known fact about Kemi Badenoch that years ago she must have suffered a traumatic brain injury that has left her completely unable to recall any event after 2002. That may sound ridiculous, but once you know it, it explains an awful lot about British politics.
Take, for instance, Wednesday’s Prime Minister’s Questions. The Tory leader demanded to know why Britain wasn’t joining the Americans in attacking Iran. That’s a brilliant question if, like Badenoch — and apparently her entire team — you have absolutely no knowledge of “UK Involvement With Events in the Middle East: 2003 to Present Day”. Otherwise, even the most slow-witted MP would get a pretty handy clue from the first three letters of the target country’s name.
The best explanation for the British right's enthusiasm for war with Iran: brain damage. thecritic.co.uk/the-...

Detail from the cover of The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists graphic novel showing a painter/decorator at work with patched clothes, a flat cap, and signwriting tools in hand
On one hand I’m happy that some schools seem to be moving on from elaborate World Book Day costumes (poverty proofing, focusing on everything but reading etc) but on the other hand…
…would love to see some primary school Frank Owens wielding paintbrushes and socialist diatribes
