Let it Go Releasing Imperfect Work into the World

You won’t ever feel like your work is perfect.
But if you don’t release it, no one gets to feel its impact.
This one’s for the creators who are still holding back.

A poem by R.M. Landry

The Untold Journey:

Love everything
For you are everything
From the whispers within
All journeys begin

Let gratitude rise
And joy open your eyes
Fear no shift
Don't force the gift

For the ordinary glows
When presence flows
Let your story unfoldβ€”
Embrace the journey of the untold

That night, the house lay still.

Ana shifted under the cool cotton sheets, her hand brushing the space beside her where warmth used to be. Faint footsteps drifted from the hallwayβ€”measured, rhythmic. Joe was pacing again.

Writing Advice: β€œAlright” vs. β€œAll Right”: Which is β€œRight”? Authors have penned β€œalright” for more than 130 years. Common sense suggests that public acceptance should justify the existence of a word, right? #WritingTips #KathySWriter

Is there a clear answer to the debate?

Thanks for sharing. After reading, I still think that opening with the ominous line works and is a stronger hook right off the bat...try it on and see how you like the flow and if it supports your vision for the story.

12.01.2025 00:08 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

My subjective opinion is that the intro would be more gripping if you opened with the last three lines and then went into the exposition. Just a thought, i am naive to what comes after though so take it with salt.

That's a fair assessment. I agree that 100% of stories do not fit into one bucket, and some will call for different narrative styles and techniques. I find that I try to translate into third person in my head. It's probably just my conditioning to third person narrative.

What are your thoughts on writing in the First Person Present POV? It's not my favorite but I am seeing more of it lately.

I agree 100%. The guardrails are a perfect analogy! When you outline, do you tend to start with an outline or create it after some creative flow? I lean toward the latter.
