Most states put limits on licenses to encourage small business ownership. It worked sorta because there is a diverse ownership but most of the industry is struggling. They get by but that’s all they’re doing at the moment

In some states there’s a limit on how many stores a business owner can have. For example in VT it’s one. If someone can suddenly open 12 and is selling cheap products that they produce that will put many small retailers out of business. They aren’t struggling as much as growers but it’s still tough

The MSOs as well as other entities will have extremely large grow operations which will push the price of flower down significantly. Many growers already live on the margins because the market in most states is pushing prices down. They won’t be able to absorb another decrease.
