It's a fair point, but I think fomite and, to a lesser extent, droplet transmission, was drilled into society for a century, and the idea that a person can emit a disease just by breathing is too counterintuitive when you're locked into those models. People also can't fathom asymptomatic transm.

I think a lot of people don’t grasp aerosol transmission and that leads them to have a deeply misinformed skepticism of mask advocacy.
