: I keep forgetting I have a Substack.
Anyway, the algorithm keeps showing me stuff about denouncements and, while I’m not in a frat, I am in a brotherhood (Morehouse).
So I had thoughts.

: yes I feel better
: Chris Brown is a grown ass man with the emotional intelligence of a 10 year old; his fans enable immaturity in ways that are unhealthy & indicative of co-dependent man children; his patterns of abuse make me wonder if abuse is the allure
he’s more raunchy than talented; pelvic gyrations ≠ dancing
: I am forever grateful that I can publish 1000 word, intimately expansive exposés of incredibly niche and close to my heart passions.
(Talking about comics writ large, not the issue. The issue was just cool.)
A reminder that my strip took over Dilberts vacant spot in the Washington Post after they dropped his ass. 😎

: In 2026, I want you to be free.
: In 2026, I want to free you from believing someone else’s opinion - especially a *hypothetical* white person’s opinion - forms a rational basis for self-hatred.
: in 2026, I want to free you from thinking someone Black doing something you believe uncouth or embarrassing implies all Black people have no couth and justifies racism because of said embarrassment.

: I can do hard things
: didn’t feel like running. Couldn’t find my shoes. Pace slow; back tight. Wanted to quit.
Remembered that quitting would feel worse. Started chanting “I can do hard things.” Heard footsteps behind me; pride wouldn’t let me let them overtake me.
3 seconds off my pace goal.
: it took me 5 years to write this. I rarely ask this but: take 7 minutes to read this if you’re able.
: it’s not bad by any means. But it’s more than a bit unsatisfying. Maybe that’s my fault for projecting my expectations on someone else’s dream.
Or maybe my dream simply doesn’t require another universe.
At least not in comics.
: I think about what my life in an alternate timeline. How, if one thing changed, how many other dominoes would fall differently as a result.
I wish that kind of thought was here. Instead we have familiar names doing unfamiliar things with no clear connecting through line.
: what’s the man’s equivalent to flowers?
An affirmation.
As flowers make you feel seen and adored, so do words to men.
Tell him he’s great. Tell him he’s beautiful and enough. Hell, tell him to smile.
See how he lights up.
I wrote about it. Give it a read. open.substack.com/pub/saintjud...
: I’ll know I’ve done good in this life if I’m reincarnated as a well-to-do Black woman’s dog in the next.
Can think of no better life tbh.
: They would likely argue they just tell uncomfortable truths, to which I would say: are there no positive truths? Is there no joy, no adoration, no progress, no appreciation, no perseverance worth sharing?
You can’t love Black people unless you love Black people.
: there are two brothers who keep coming on my TL. One never has anything positive to say about Black people; The other takes shots at Black women under the guise of “accountability”
They both likely consider themselves pro-Black.
So fascinating.
: a good comic that feels (maybe purposefully) underwhelming.
As a part of Imperial War, it’s a must read. On its own…well, we’ll just have to see what the future brings.
Too bad what is just doesn’t feel like enough.
(Also: Bring back his beard)
Trump picks his enemies with malicious insight.
He knows who he can harm without getting mainstream push back. Black women top that list.
Lisa Cook should win in court. In a just nation she would win instantly. This, however, is the United States.
: some thoughts from instagram
: I think I might like Gaiden’s visuals more…maybe? Maybe Shinobi looks more action oriented and less twitch-fingery….but I haven’t played it.
: for my geriatric millennial ninjas (literally): pick one.
: the movie was a lot.
The comic is a lot.
Sometimes a lot is necessary and fulfilling.
That’s not necessarily the case with Storm.
: two great fantasy programs whose deserved yet unrealized popularity were casualties of today’s cultural (and media) nightmare reality.
Watch them both, for we might not have much more like them anytime soon, to the detriment of us all.
: as seen on twitter, so attach “allegedly” to this.
Still, if you can’t say “Black” or “woman” at Essence, where can you say it?
