The masculine urge to intuit my way through a new software platform.
Some of my friends have heard my super fun stories about working with Barry Manilow and they're going to rebroadcast one of those productions! IFKYK www.thirteen.org/programs/bar...
When we come out of all of this I hope we embrace this ethos and rebuild things not as they were but what they could be.

Happy 2026.
I know that nothing magically changes on January 1st, 2026, but I personally will wassail its arrival with great relief and fanfare.
Fuck 2025. Fuck 2025 right the fuck off.
Looking forward to a brighter 2026. Bring on the new year.

I need a 2025 Holiday #Wrapped for all the stupid ways brands are summarizing my relationships with them over the last year.

We need a different design modality around AI. Instead of making a computer do stupid human tricks we need to remember why we made computers and empower the user. This is how we create a new method of human/computer interaction. And probably get to AGI easier as well.
I need AI that remembers my windows set ups. An AI that recognizes the people important to me on whatever platform. An AI that takes my repeated tasks and automates them. An AI that actually finds what Iβm looking for. An AI that collects the data thatβs actually important to me.
I need an AI that remembers how I like to arrange my screens, the repeated tasks I do, the apps I use when I'm doing different kinds of work, recognition of what and who are important to me - BEFORE I need suggestions on what I'm doing, how I'm doing it wrong, how I could be doing it differently ...
Listening to Tracey Emin at @cooperunion.bsky.social last night: βI think AI is going to be terrible for the artists because no one will know what the truth is anymore.β
I heard recently that if web 1.0 was the Era of Information, we are now entering into the Era of Imagination, which probably doesn't bode well for things like politics and journalism. www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfJk...
Also that end tag ... C-suites are going to embrace this solution as long as the price is right and they're not going to notice the irony this sort of own goal.
I recently had a client react poorly to pencil sketch storyboards. They expect "photoreal" (via AI) level visuals on everything and they expect it quickly. I don't think I can convince all my clients (present and future) to appreciate the craft of pencil sketch storyboards so, adapt we must.
I'm not here to declare all things AI generated to be terrible - there's skill and craft here, just wildly different. And I think that the real klaxon we should all recognize that when a brand like CocaCola who can afford big budgets chooses this ... we need to introspect and pivot.
Subtweet: they made it in AI. www.youtube.com/watch?v=URT_...
Considering the backlash that happened last year, I'm surprised they doubled down. But maybe I shouldn't be. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yy6f...
