Queso and Cookie aren’t going anywhere.
They’re officially here to stay!
To celebrate, here are some puppy photos of the two (plus Cast) from Ashley (Lost Lake Racing)!
Fun fact, this was a litter of only 3 pups. So the whole gang’s here!
What do YOU do on your work break?
Cookie takes a dive for what little snow we have left, and gets a full body cool down.
We are in a weird inbetween phase where there’s not enough snow for sleds but it’s still too icy in most spots for ATV. The backyard is still knee deep snow while the front is all grass. I just want to be active with dogs but the WEATHER 🥲

I wanted to give an update on the sled fundraiser. We are at a little over $1500 out of $4000. We’re almost halfway!!

Big Team. After this run though, Tikan has really solidified her decision to enter full time retirement. We’ll have to have a party for her ❤️🩹
New pups did great. BMO also got up in lead for the last half mile! Kid’s got potential!
We may or may not be including them in all our summer adventure plans already 🙊
Queso- an almost 4 year old male, he is Cast’s littermate brother. He is inquisitive but quiet. A little aloof, but I have been told once you are his friend, you are friend for LIFE.
Cookie- Cast’s littermate sister. Almost 4, she is a spunky, sassy, talkative girl. Very outgoing and go-with-the-flow.
Meet Queso and Cookie! These guys are on ‘trial’ with the kennel for the next few weeks. Though, if they are anything like their brother Cast, they aren’t going anywhere. These guys were planned prior to the sled upgrade, but now we’re really hoping to upgrade with a bigger team!

My 8 dog team halfway through the wilderness of the Ely area. Jake and Cast in lead, Beedle and Pistol (borrowed) in swing, Finn and Flint(borrowed) in team, and BMO and Dovah in wheel. I was first out (bib 1 scratched) and last back in. It was a tough race for us. But I am grateful everyone finished strong, still standing in harness. As always, we learn something on each run. This run I learned I need to tweak my feeding schedule so we aren’t having so many bathroom breaks on the trail.
Something changed within me this season, and I’ve fallen in love with mushing all over again.

Finn is an enthusiastic boy. When we pull out the harnesses? Scream.
Finn loves to run. When he is on the line? Scream.
He is not a patient boy. When we stop on the trail? Scream.
Finn is a good sled dog. Finn pulls hard. But he will scream while doing it.

Oh no not the dog truck!! But very grateful you were close to home with no dogs in it. That’s my worst fear traveling with dogs! Hopefully it’s an easy fix!
TJ and her sled dogs at the start of the Wolftrack Classic. Color coordinating booties on the dogs match the yellow and green gangline and sled bag.
Color coordination is fun, but another musher pointed out that my vibrant booties made the dogs’ feet easier to see. We can keep an eye on gaits a little easier, and spot when booties fly off.
Now next year, I will need to get *all* my booties and lines matching our green and yellow colors!
“How well can dogs hear?”
Well… when I stand up to peek out the front door (over 100 feet away from the outside dogyard), they’re already staring back.

We completed our first Wolftrack Classic race. While we were first out of the chute, we came in last. Red lanterned. I’m honored to have shared the trail with so many wonderful mushers. Hope to see you next year (and not in last place!!)
