Cellxgene Data Portal
Find, download, and visually explore curated and standardized single cell datasets.
This study was a big team effort as part of the @cziscience.bsky.social-funded "Tendon Seed Network" led by @sarahsnelling.bsky.social, Dr Mathew Baldwin, @adamcribbs.bsky.social & many others @ndorms.bsky.social.

This Graphical abstract depicts healthy and acutely ruptured human quadriceps tendons. Using single nucleus RNA sequencing, the analysis shows that stromal cells change in ruptured quadriceps tendons, including increase of activated phenotype of fibroblasts, vascular endothelial cells, and macrophages, as well as increase in cell-cell interactions between fibroblasts and vascular endothelial cells.
The transcriptomics analysis of our paper "Exploring cellular changes in ruptured human quadriceps tendons at single-cell resolution" suggests that fibroblasts and endothelial cells are key orchestrators of the early injury response within ruptured quadriceps tendon.

Interested? Do take a look at Supplementary Tables i and ii!
These tables provide an overview of the data on ECM features by tissue type in humans (Table i) and animal models of OA (Table ii), including the direction of change in OA, measurement method, and references.

Wonder what it is like to study at @ndorms.bsky.social at the University of Oxford? Here we share some of our experiences from working in an interdisciplinary team with the wonderful @sarahsnelling.bsky.social.
Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions!
