I have been predicting stuff for over a decade. It only pays in gray hair.

But my tombstone will say โ€œI told you so.โ€

Thinking about the six lawmakers who told the military they donโ€™t have to obey unlawful orders.

I am not alone in believing with my whole heart that this will not make America safer.

Putting my own country first doesnโ€™t mean I wish harm on anyone else.

People will die. The rich get richer. Americans get poorer.

And for what?

Itโ€™s pissing me off that some very smart people I know think opposing this war equals wishing harm to israel.

Wrong.

There was no imminent threat.

I donโ€™t like Iran.

I also donโ€™t like what Trump is doing.

I hate that people think this is binary position

Every single video she makes about lead on this popular brand of โ€œpremiumโ€ glass baby bottle gets swarmed with paid bots (from the company) commenting โ€œitโ€™s not a big dealโ€โ€ฆ

I don't know that I've read a better piece on the danger of online age-verification than @taylorlorenz.bsky.social's piece for @theintercept.com.

The government, in concert with AI companies, is openly bragging about using mass surveillance to crush dissent.

And we're agreeing to given them more?

If you, like me, think both โ€œtechnology is amazingโ€ and โ€œtechnology is fucked upโ€ and wonder โ€œwell now what? โ€œ

Start here.

I just finished this.

After over 25 years in tech you have put voice to so much on my mind.

I got involved with AI 3 years ago exactly because I wanted to help shape it for good

Cancer showed me how much and how little it all means.

Need something soothing? Look for The Zoo: San Diego on HBO Max.

Animals. Keepers. Vets.

So full of joy.

Strong agree.

What gets revealed here isnโ€™t just that coding wasnโ€™t the whole job. Itโ€™s that a lot of the lower-status, backgrounded labor (almost always women as you said) was carrying way more of the real value than people wanted to admit.

And can we talk about (lack of) documentation?! ๐Ÿคฃ

a lot of discussion about how "cosmopolitan" urban dwellers are, but a really underdiscussed trend is the homogenization of culture across *rural* areas of the USA - replacement of once-distinct regional cultures with generic "redneck" accent and culture, regional religions with evanglicalism etc
