Yeah, early Spielberg rules. 'Jaws' with a truck is thrown around a lot (deservedly so) but this film is a lot more than that.
And to have the truck and its dricer be such a brutal force... Love it.
A film on masculinity, on violence inherit in vehicles. Machete's up. πͺπͺπͺ

Pieter Bruegel's The Triumph of Death reflects the social upheaval and terror that followed the plague in medieval Europe.
A moral work depicting Death's triumph over worldly things, symbolized by a great army of skeletons ravaging the Earth. In the background is a barren landscape where scenes of destruction continue to unfold. In the foreground, Death, riding a red horse at the head of his armies, destroys the world of the living, who are led to an enormous coffin with no hope of salvation. All social classes are included in the composition, with neither power nor devotion able to save them.

Black/white artwork of a witch on her broom by an unknown artist. Owls and bats flying besides her through the night.
In Flemish folktales, witches unfortunately sometimes see the world upside down. Several sources mention witches falling off their brooms. In one of them, a witch was found covered in blood struggling to get out of a tree. The forester she had hoped to scare helped her get out.

A string of lights hangs in an alley, slightly illuminating the bricks. Each point source of light has a reddish halation around it and an eight pointed star from the aperture blades.
A guy walked by while I was setting up to take this photo and asked what was special about this alley. He said people are always taking pics of it. I dunno, probably because it looks cool?

Whatever you do, please donβt stop reading.
Read for joy. Read for education. Read for resistance. Read banned books. Read books by marginalized authors. Read about experiences that differ from your own.
Just. Keep. Reading.

Genius is Complicated: Francisco Goya
Court favorite and witness in the same body. He painted saints and butchers with the same eye, royalty and prisoners under the same light. He served a king he despised. Genius here isn't charm, it's stamina for truth, and that bill always comes due.

A mist-shrouded pond with water lilies surrounded by weeping willow trees.
Not sure if it's an official legend or not, but one can definitely feel Monet's ghost in the water garden at Giverny, especially on a misty morning.
