Cover of Flowers in the Artic featuring distinctive white on black font
A Film By Emerald Fennell in the same font, taken from the recently released Wuthering Heights trailer
Emerald Fennell choosing the Flowers in the Attic font for Wuthering Heights tells me everything I need to know about this cursed nightmare of an adaptation
The best! He is so lovely, too. X

UKIP racists skulk off into the distance as triumphant Liverpool anti-fascists celebrate preventing them from beginning their anti-immigration march. This is what community looks like!
UKIP came to Liverpool, got completely outnumbered by anti-fascists, failed to go on their planned march, and then got escorted away by the police in utter humiliation. Good!

RIP Terence Stamp
The Limeyβs ending is beautifully melancholic & all the more poignant today as Soderbergh uniquely uses footage from Ken Loachβs Poor Cow where Terence Stamp played a tender yet violent criminal thus linking the 2 films in a loop that plays on the themes of memory, regret & ageing.

An ornate gravestone carved from weathered grey stone features a high-relief sculpture of an angel. The angel is depicted in flowing robes with large, detailed wings. One wing appears slightly eroded. The angelβs right arm is raised upward with the index finger pointing toward the sky, a traditional gesture symbolizing the soulβs ascent to heaven. The left arm is extended slightly outward and downward. The figure is framed within an arched Gothic-style niche with carved floral embellishments near the top and bottom. In the background, other gravestones and lush green trees can be seen.

A somber, overgrown graveyard filled with aged headstones in varying shapes and sizes. In the center stands a tall, dark stone monument featuring a statue of a hooded female figure, draped in long robes. She leans forward in mourning, resting her hand on a pedestal that may symbolize an altar or gravestone. The figureβs posture conveys grief or contemplation. The monument is surrounded by an iron fence that is partially hidden by long, untamed grass and wild plants. Behind and around it are dozens of older gravestones, many of which are weathered and leaning. Tall trees with dense, shadowed branches loom overhead.

Silver Jews. Bright Flight. The sleeve shows a photograph of a grey sofa. Propped on it is a spiral bound notepad, it has a black cover with coloured stickers upon it.
βThey slow danced, so the needle wouldnβt skipβ
In 40+ years of listening to music only a tiny handful of records have fundamentally shifted my understanding of the world we live in.
There was life before Bright Flight, and there has been life afterwards. That is how my history is divided.
An incredible list, as half of it is minor / forgettable, and half is absolute bangers that redefine the very concept of what a banger is.

Loved this beautiful, understated story of friendship and love and art between two older women, lifelong companions. Something very special.
Unbelievable behaviour. I canβt conceive the mental gymnastics needed to justify what is at the end of the day just plain bullying.
I think when someone being harassed on the morning of their mum's funeral is considered justifiable some serious reevaluation needs to be done. No excuse.

You shouldnβt have had to put up with literally any of this. X
@essj.bsky.social You disabled replies so just to say, Backlisted has been independent of Unbound for several years, and John Mitchinson doesnβt present it anymore. Itβs been very tough for them to be associated with this as itβs nothing to do with them.
