Seems to me that if you're upset that there's not more of a student movement fighting fascism in 2026, the first place to direct your anger is the people who crushed the wave of student organizing that crested in the months immediately preceding the fascists' rise to power.

I just had to pay for some very expensive tests for my cat Merlin so if anyone is feeling generous and wants to pick up some of my paper insect templates I'd greatly appreciate it! πͺ²

One of the most depressing things about life in post GFC America is how there's just no more art or culture being produced because no one can make a living doing so any longer.

I love spring so much. The cold that makes me so unhappy is going away and flowers are all over the place and there are more hours of daylight.
On the other hand, my guys are starting their yearly cage fight with pollen and that is Not Good.

remember when the IRS put out a a free online tax filing system where you could just do your taxes through the IRS and it was actually well made and was pretty well recieved and then the tax filing industry and Republicans killed it and now you have to use TurboTax again

The South ending Reconstruction and plunging their populations into a backward looking culture and economy until it was forced to modernize by the Civil Rights movement is imo a very clean parallel.

This current fad of our government deliberately *creating* entirely unnecessary bad things so they can happen to people? Itβs trash. Utter garbage.

if you believe in any form of free enterprise at all, the idea that the Pentagon can not only cut off your contract but designate you a supply chain risk and prevent other companies from buying from you just because you won't build killbots for the government should be terrifying

We canβt put profit or performance incentive on penalizing people & ruining their lives. Itβs supremely evil, totally unfair and antithetical to a free society. But thatβs how the whole game works. So itβs gotta go.

Well done. We have to start thinking that we are in dangerous times &, if possible, we should save books that cover topics which this & similar administrations are trying to eliminate.
History truly matters.
Imagine what we would not know if we had no paintings, books or sculpture prior to 1900

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. Itβs always a matter of will not resources.

Among the hundreds of journalists laid off by The Washington Post on β¦ Michelle Lee needs your support for Support for Washington Post international employees
Former Washington Post journalists have launched a GoFundMe to help repatriate fired staff members who are effectively stranded in foreign countries.
One of the richest men in the world fired them from the paper and didnβt even pay to ensure they got home.

Itβs so CRAZY to me that the UK is mobilizing criminal charges against everybody they can within the law for the Epstein files.
And over here in the US? Nothing. It is FULL mask-off white supremacy driven authoritarianism.
Laws are for the poor.
