Nicely done.
"The solution to the problems in autism research is not just to 'science harder.' To the contrary. Autism researchers and professionals would do well to make peace with that fact that autistic people canβt be slotted into a taxonomic flow chart as if weβre a sub-species of the human race."
Both autistic and schizophrenic people are demonized and dehumanized in our society.
Both groups are met with hostility when they appear too accepting of themselves.
Frith's statement only reveals whose humanization is most threatening to her.
Why don't we ever see this moral panic about "glamorizing" NON-autistic people?
'Cause there's a lot of that.
String is scary. I once had to pull a long string out of Emilia's mouth. I don't know if that was actually the right thing to do, but she was alright afterwards.
About this new "I-ACC" panel Alison Singer has put together to counter RFK's pseudoscience garbage vortex IACC:
This is NOT good news for autistic people, because Singer loathes (and never stops trying to smear) autistic advocates. You should always be very skeptical of her autism projects. 1/
Hi! My Emilia would sometimes eat things that weren't food. To this day, I feel anxious leaving plastic bags out.
My cat loves to play on tissue paper.
If you have some tissue paper, put it on the floor for your cat.

I applied for help with my heating earlier in the year through a website called lightning reach and I got so many free things from it. I got draft excluders, lightbulbs, hot water bottles, a flask, a huge electric blanket and loads more. I thought Iβd share incase anyone else wants to apply
Autistic stimming is functional, and can be soothing and natural. Although sometimes the function of stimming is to to indicate distressβwhich means the distress needs to be investigated, NOT that the stim needs to be eliminated.
Seeing what happened to people my age who *were* diagnosed as children, I donβt envy that experience.
I do wish that Iβd had more effective supports younger.
Itβs complicated.
Our internet was down for almost a week.
I could use my phone's data but sparingly.
I read. I cleaned. I thought my own thoughts. I played with my cat.
The burning knot in my stomach went away.
Anyway, I'm back.
Today is the disability day of mourning, a day to mourn the loss of disabled people who were killed by their caregivers, and the way that society responds to these deaths.

We do need earlier autism diagnoses so more autistic kids can get beneficial supports as early as possible. But I get irritated by these articles that hammer on about goals like mainstreaming kids, or getting them jobs. NO. Autistic kids deserve supports even if they are never "productive" FFS. 2/2
Snow covered street.
Blizzard of '26.
I feel so unsafe on social media now.
I'm grateful for the people who are just here to document their days, offer kindness, and do their very best to manage their own mental health.
But no amount of blocking, muting, and unfollowing reduces the terrifying swarm.
If it does, I'll know it's from you. π€

There was always a personality type that couldn't just, say, plant a garden. They had to start shouting to everyone they met that "we need to bring back gardening!" and insist all other hobbies were inferior and worthless.
Social media allowed those people to totally take over the discourse.
Youtube's algorithm just randomly showed me a 13 year old ad:

(This balletβmaybe even this videoβis how I first discovered the composer Ezio Bosso.)
I'm looking for advice.
If you have a portable/collapsible washing machine for your clothes that works well for you, can you please send me your recommendation?
Thank you!
