I absolutely adore that film. Yes the plot was nothing special and just another "aliens created us!" we've seen a hundred times before, but there was something magical about it from the directing, the acting, the music. Typical case of directing elevating the screenplay to make a marvel.

I had waited for this film half my life since reading the books and of course they managed to fumble how to sell it making everyone thing it was a cheap rip off of other films whil it was adapted THE forerunner of Science Fantasy. Still pissed we're never getting a sequel.

One thing I learned about Disney from this film and some other around the same time is that they SUCK at marketing thing.

They just happen to have tons of IP and properties that will just sell themselves. Original IP? They never know how to it.

I imagine worse : they're gonna have a Lisa Trevor be a stalker ennemy and appear everywhere all the game.

(I tire of stalkers so much)

Il reste de bonnes choses (notamment un certain élément scénaristique qui préfigure Matrix presque vingt ans plus tôt) mais ça reste au final une suite sympathique mais plutôt dispensable à mes yeux (et avec une ambiance musicale bien en deça).

Dommage

On reste devant une espèce de redite bien inférieure et bien moins maitrisée que le chef d'oeuvre précédent, avec un scénario pas très passionnant, peu de péripéties, un Faust qui n'a pour seul intérêt que son design, et des caméos gratuits et poussifs de Harlock et Emeraldas. 🤷‍♂️

Ca faisait plaisir de revoir ce second film de Galaxy Express 999 après plus de vingt ans, et surtout en VO et avec une qualité d'image encore une fois optimale.

Bon après... je peux pas dire que cette revoyure ait vraiment changé mon opinion dessus. 😅

Yeah this. Trying multiple games will be in disaster. It kinda worked back in family were the computers belonged to my brothers and the console was the TV in my parent's bedroom, so you had to make do with what you had. But now having everything ? Disaster.
